Michel and his apartment in the Bastille neighborhood were wonderful. He was so gracious and helpful. . . he gave us a lot of great restaurant recommendations and useful tips. The neighborhood is fun and lively without being overwhelming or crowded. We loved it. I highly recommend Michel's apartment!
The apartment was lovely and just like the photos. The neighbourhood is safe and there are a lot of good places to eat nearby as well as shops and the metro stations are close. Michel was very kind and gave us a tour of the neighbourhood and suggested restaurants that had good food.
This apartment is charming in so many ways! The photos are spot-on; if anything, we found it to be more creative and beautifully decorated than the photos show. It was amazingly quiet, and we never felt like we were only blocks from the craziness of the Place de Bastille. The apt. is quite close to a major Metro stop (Bastille) and to a magnificent market (closed on Mondays).
One of the best things about this apartment was our host. Communication with him ahead of time was easy and he always responded quickly. We cannot say enough about his patience, helpfulness, and kindness shown to us upon our arrival. The frig was stocked with breakfast essentials, and he left a huge stash of guide books, maps, and restaurant suggestions for our use while there. It is clear that Michel pays close and thoughtful attention to the little things that can make a positive difference to weary travelers. He even gave us a little walking tour of the neighborhood to get us acclimated. With the one exception of not being able to stand up in the bedroom/clothes storage loft (which we were aware of before we rented), this was a most comfortable home-base for us as we expored the City. Thank you, Michel!!
This apartment was authentic and truly incredible - the perfect French get away! The photos certainly do it justice, it really is as beautiful as it looks. Michel was a truly wonderful host. He was so genuine and helpful from the moment we arrived. He took the time to show us round not only the apartment but also the neighbourhood, recommending restaurants, bakeries and fabulous patisserie's. We absolutely loved Bastille! Michel also showed us where the local markets were, which I have to say, are definitely worth a visit every morning - an amazing experience to enjoy fresh French cuisine. Michel was also very flexible with check in and out times, which was much appreciated and very convenient. We honestly cannot recommend this place enough to anyone looking for the true Parisian experience in a beautiful apartment in a perfect location to explore the city.
Michel is incredibly friendly, welcoming and hospitable taking the time to show us around his apartment, explaining how to operate the various aspects. He also took us on a tour of the area, pointing out the market and various recommended restaurants. The apartment is well appointed and very comfortable. At the end of our stay, Michel came back and assisted us in getting to the Air France bus at Gare De Lyon, for which we were extremely appreciative. Stay with Michel - you will not regret it!!
Merci Michel!
This was an extraordinary home, in an extraordinary area of Paris. Michel was a charming and gracious host, who not only went out of his way to make us feel welcome when we arrived, but also checked in with us throughout our stay to see if we had additional needs.
The apartment was extremely clean and comfortable, as promised and described in the description and other reviews. We found the location to be especially remarkable. While near the busy and exciting Bastille District, the apartment itself was quiet and private. The 12th is a gem; many online articles talk about finding the "real Paris," and we think this is it. Residential but filled with cafes and stores, near an incredible farmers market, convenient to two Metro lines, and walking distance to the Canal and the Bastille Opera house (we had tickets to the opera one night, and left by foot ten minutes prior to the start of the performance--not recommended, but it gives you an idea of how close we were! We could also hear opera singers practicing through open windows of the opera house, which added to the charm of the area).
All in all, we couldn't be happier with the apartment, and would return tomorrow if we could.

About the Host, Michel
I'm really enjoying sharing my knowledge and experiences of the city through the many wonderful people who've stayed as my guests through Airbnb - what a fantastic concept it is. I take much pleasure in making sure anyone staying with me has a great experience and stay and have a very professional approach in the preparation and presentation of my apartment.
This apartment used to be my home in the city, and although I've moved now, I've taken a lot of care and paid a lot of attention in re-decorating and equipping it to make it the perfect pad from which to explore Paris...
If you've got any questions or need any help while planning your trip to Paris I'd be very happy to lend a helping hand.
Looking forward to hopefully meeting you and welcoming you to Paris...!
