Tandem Trails is a century home in the welcoming community of Canal Fulton. This private home offers 2 bedrooms, the second also has a sitting/TV area for relaxation. There is one bath and a separate kitchenette. Tandem Trails is booked to one group/family at a time. Tandem Trails ALSO OFFERS a transit service to booked TT guests who are detained on the trail due to weather or accident. We will also pick guests up from Cleveland or Akron Airports if scheduled. This service is for fee.

The space
Tandem Trails Guesthouse was built in 1886 and sits two blocks from quaint downtown Canal Fulton with many restaurants and novelty shops for your pleasure. We have lived in and loved this home for 21 years, making updates and renovations, always with the thoughts of sharing our home and it's charm with others. When our daughter married in 2018, we opened a bedroom in our home for guests. In June of 2025, we, the hosts, moved out of Tandem Trails and built a home 3 doors down. This allowed us to create a second sleeping quarters room for guests. There will never be more than one family/group booking at any given time.

The Guestrooms are on the second floor, as is the guest bathroom. No room is en-suite. One guestroom has a queen bed, and the other has two twin beds including a couch and a television. We can also provide a pack-n-play for an infant/toddler. There is a desk, if you would like to bring a laptop. WIFI is available.

Other spaces in the home: The living room and dining room are on the first floor and available to guests to have a comfortable seat in between their other activities. The home's full kitchen is NOT available to guests. There is a kitchenette in the upstairs with a fridge, freezer, microwave, and coffee maker.

Tandem Trails LOVES to host cyclists traveling through Canal Fulton. My husband teaches indoor cycling. We are members of the Akron and Stark County Bike Clubs, and avid supporters of our trails. We offer cyclists our garage for your bikes during your stay. There would be ample room to work on a repair or dry your bike and or equipment.

Cleanliness and safety: The guestrooms and guest bath are cleaned and sanitized in between each and every booking. Battery operated lamps are provided in case of storm or black-out. The house is hardwired with smoke detectors. Your safety is important to us.

Guest access
Guests will arrive at Tandem Trails and park in the gravel driveway created to our car-driving guests. Cycling guests will have the garage code and be able to store your bikes. You will walk to the front porch where you will have been instructed how to enter the home.

Days before arrival, the hosts will send you a message to give you instructions regarding guest access to the FRONT door.

You will enter through our dining room and immediately see the stairs to the second floor where guest accommodations are. You may use the dining room or living room for relaxing or having a take-out meal. There has now also been a water cooler added to the dining room at guest suggestion.

Snacks have been provided in the kitchenette as well as a coffee maker. There is a refrigerator with freezer, and a microwave to reheat coffee or leftovers. Full meal preparation cannot take place by guests in Tandem Trails. We encourage you to take a 2 block stroll into town and enjoy any of our fine eateries!

Other things to note
While this is a full-home rental, there is a door between the dining room and the home kitchen that will remain closed/locked. There is a kitchenette on the second floor with a refrigerator/freezer, a coffee pot, and a microwave for guests. There is a water cooler to refill a glass at the downstairs dining room table. We believe our prices adequately reflect not having a full kitchen available.

This price is round trip if we are picking you up on the trail.

Neighborhood highlights

Our home is in a residential setting, two blocks away from both our downtown area and the Ohio to Erie bicycle path. Our historic downtown is walkable on sidewalks to quaint shops, ice cream, and plenty to see and do, including a canoe livery. For those cyclists traveling the trail, there is also a local bike shop. Within a 2-3 minute drive, you can also have access to a grocery store, pharmacy, fast food, even a hardware.

We are Ray and Dawn and we love our hometown of Canal Fulton. Ray is a retired Fire Chief and current fitness instructor, teaching cycling and water aerobics. Dawn is a retired Social Worker, works part time currently at our local YMCA, cares for our granddaughter, and manages Tandem Trails. Ray is also an avid cyclist. He enjoys road rides with our local clubs and participates in a bit of racing.
