Neighborhood highlights

The surrounding area, where this apartment is nestled, is a mix of high mountains and a gently sloping valley that leads to the town of Unalaska. This is a residential area and much of the population of Unalaska lives in the valley. It's best if you rent a car to get around, even though there are no more than 5 miles of paved roads, there are long drives to bays and inlets that were once teaming with a population of greater than 30,000 in 1942. The actual property that our rentals are located in, was once the "old firehouse" for the military and each side of this grand building, has been refitted to accommodate tourist and to allow for more housing in a town with a horrible shortage of hotels and rentals. We are located on unpaved roads, which was the only kind of road on these islands until 1995 when the first roads were paved.

Jimmer and I love the water, he is a Captain and I, a mermaid! Ok, not really, but we love the water and anything that has to do with it. We are semi-retired but still quite active in our community. Jimmer runs the charter business that we jointly own and I am a pre-college advisor for the University of Alaska by day and yoga instructor by night. We hope you enjoy our beautiful little island in the middle of the Bering Sea!
