The space

The studio has a lovely view from the kitchenette table of the sea and out to Skellig Michael. There is a king size comfortable bed and there are steep loft stairs to two single beds. The loft has a railing and is open to the room below. No small children please.

Guest access

Guests have their own private entry and use of the patio with table and chairs.
Things to do right from Beenbawn Cottage;
Stroll 3 minutes to beautiful Beenbawn Strand at the cove where “Fungie,” our resident dolphin, frolics daily. Howls of delight from Fungie watchers on boats will alert you to his activities.
Have a swim in the clear cool water or borrow some fishing tackle and try your hand at catching dinner.
A 30-meter pre-Christian ringfort is about a five-minute walk from the cottage off the boreen to Doonsean (Dún Síon). This national historic site has Ogham writing on lapidated oval stones from the storm beach at Minard. I will give you more historical information and directions once you are here.
Pack a picnic lunch and wander up to the top of Beenbawn head. Walk safely along the cliffs to the stone cairn at the peak for breath-taking views of Dingle Bay and passing fishing and sail boats. You can see across to the Beara Peninsula, Skellig Michael, and Valentia Island where the first transatlantic cable linked Europe to America. To the west is Eask Tower marking the entrance to Dingle Harbour.

Interaction with guests

I live on site in the attached bungalow. I am available for any visitor information that you may require and have many suggestions for interesting off the beaten path adventures. Beenbawn is so beautiful I want to share it. I have a horse drawn carriage business that guests can get a discount on when you book.

The neighborhood

Beenbawn is a quaint hamlet of 19 farmhouses a mile from Dingle. You can walk to town along the seaside by the lighthouse, or take the fuscia-lined boreen (road) past the track of the annual Dingle Races and then the main road until you come to town. We are a cluster of family homes by the sea with horses, dairy cows, and sheep on the hillside.

Getting around

Taxis are readily available for €7 to get into town. It is only one and a half miles and the drive time is under 5 minutes. There are national buses that service Dingle with connections to other towns. The village is very walkable with numerous shops, pubs and interesting places to visit.

Other things to note

I have a friendly dog and one outside cat. I'm open to people bringing their dog on holiday as long as it is kept on lead if it chases cats or livestock. If you leave the dog in the studio while you go out no barkers please. I have a horse that I occasionally keep next to the house if I'm going to ride or drive her the next day. Please don't feed her without asking. You can get a discount with the horse drawn carriage business I own. The horse and carriage is in the driveway sometimes.

House Rules
No smoking
No parties or events
Check in is anytime after 4PM

The loft stairs are steep so no small children please as I don't want them falling. Non crawling babies or kids 5 and up are fine. I work in the mornings so please be considerate of late night noise. Have fun and bring a happy attitude. Please do not feed the horse (Molly) or enter her field unless you ask. It keeps everybody safe, especially her. Also do not let the cat in. Lots of people are allergic so don't contaminate the rental please. Beanie is very loved and well looked after and would be happy to be rubbed when he is outside. The Wi-Fi is data limited so please do not stream videos or download movies. Smoking is only allowed outside.

What a cute, clean, wonderful place! Just a short drive (or incredibly scenic, 45 minute walk!) from city center, and perfect for a relaxing stay in Dingle. It's very small, sort of a studio room with a kitchen and bathroom off the main bed area, with a small loft with two small beds, great for children. Maureen is a very pleasant woman who was quick to respond and very helpful all around. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay around Dingle, look no further! You can stroll down to the water, or amongst the pastures. Thanks for your hospitality, Maureen!

This is a great location to see the water and go do things in the town of dingle. It's a tight place so make sure to be with good travelers. Maureen is super friendly and very accommodating.

Maureen's cottage is magical, as is the village of Dingle. Maureen, her pup and cat greeted me when I arrived, gave me the tour and several recommendations and then left me to my weekend. The cottage is well-appointed with a fireplace, very comfortable bed, homemade jam, French press and tea. The patio overlooks the bay (and as many others have said, the pictures don't do it justice). A short walk down the lane drops you directly onto a beach surrounded by cliffs. I walked those cliffs into town and back (about 25 minutes, roughly 5 minutes by car) as it was so beautiful. Go to the lighthouse, go to the Folly, have a Guinness at Foxy Hands, drive the Sleahead Rd. Make sure to stay for more than one night. Highly recommend!

Maureen's place is even nicer than the pictures. There are plenty of windows with ample ambient light. Maureen is an excellent hostess, offering you help with anything but never getting in your way or intruding. She has a list of local taxi companies and attractions on the fridge. The wifi and TV were fine. The kitchen is small, modern and functional. She even left us a fresh loaf of local bread and Irish butter in the fridge. The bed is very comfortable. The view of the bay and the surrounding hills is spectacular. It's only a 3 minute drive into town. We were there for the May 1st Druid Spring Festival. The town was hopping and there was live music - both Rock and Trad (traditional) in a bunch of local pubs. There are two very nice walks right outside her door. One toward the right toward the lighthouse and town, along the grassy shore, above the shore of the bay, right by the sheep. The other walk goes the up the soft lush green hill to the left. Very highly recommended! The towns people were very friendly as well. We would love to come back!

Maureen User ProfileMaureen is a superhost.

I love to share interesting tips about Dingle and can give you lots of foodie recommendations as well as local activities. I have a dog named Teddy that welcomes everyone and one horse named Molly as well as an outdoor cat named Beanie. I have lived in the states and have travelled extensively. I like to explore diverse cultures and places as well as enjoy being in nature. I am a relaxed host but I like things neat and clean.
