Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
Located in a re-finished basement of 1913 Historic Craftsman, spacious 10' x 14' room with full bed sleeps 2. Comfy sofa sleeps 1 more. Full bath and bistro table assures privacy. Decorated with local art work. Cooking area includes mini-refrigerator, microwave, and mini-oven. Extra space heaters provided. Ample storage available. 3 drawer dresser stows extra stuff. Free Wi-Fi & Netflix on big screen TV. Newly screened-in porch overlooks private garden with gas grill for BBQ.

The space
Located in a finished basement down a flight of ten steps, all guests will find a welcome platter on their bed. An alarm clock is provided on an end table. An overstuffed chair graces a corner. The area receives strong Wi-Fi.

Guests in the Franciscan cellar can access a mini-refrigerator, microwave, and a mini-oven. Ample paper plates and plastic utensils will be provided. Filtered water and iron & board available on request.

If guest and host scheduling permits, the host will offer an omelet, French Toast, buttermilk pancakes for breakfast or bread pudding. The guest can eat al fresco (outside) on the covered porch or in their room. Guests have the choice of fresh brewed or espresso or tea. Guests also have use of a gas grill which is equipped with applicable utensils.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the back covered patio in the summer time which has a gas grill. The back yard is constantly blooming from March until September beginning with daffodils and ending with host as and roses. The fully landscaped backyard serves as an oasis from the busyness of city life. Guests in the Franciscan cellar have a private entrance through the back garden gate. Parking i available on street adjacent to home.

There is a separation between the upstairs guests and downstairs guests and intermingling is not encouraged.

This is a 1913 Craftsman home. With its age, the noise from upstairs water usage will be noticeable. The air vents readily carry sound. However, quiet hours run from 9 PM to 5 AM. Extra heaters are provided for each downstairs accommodation.

During your stay
I take a lot of interest in my guests and try to greet them when they initially arrive. If not possible, I visit them the next morning. Other than those contacts, I will respect your privacy. I am easily reach via phone or text since I live on the property but in an ADU (accessory dwelling unit).

Other things to note
The stair way (ten steps) is steep. One side has a railing. Please note the parking spaces provided along Florida Street (for both the Pilgrim's Couch and Franciscan Cellar).

The Pilgrim's Couch room has been converted into a small library and storage area. The code to access the key pad will be issued to guests about a week before their scheduled arrival. Wi-Fi information is provided in each room.

City regulations require the responsible guest to provide government ID, permanent address, and phone number for the host. Information will treated confidentially. If this information is not provided, the booking will be canceled and money not refunded.

While I do permit alcohol on the premises, I ask that guests inform me when they check-in and consume adult beverages responsibly. Marijuana consumption is prohibited. Cigar/cigarette smoking is allowed in the porch area. Just ask host for an ash tray.

Neighborhood highlights

This is a quiet neighborhood on the farthest eastern city limit. Referred to as east south central Spokane, it is walking distance to a Fred Meyer Store (large department store/grocery store) and one coffee stand, The Wake-Up Call.

Scott Elementary is located a couple blocks west of my home; be aware of children and obey speed limit restrictions.
