Jamaica unplugged! The owner, reggae musician Jamaica Papa Curvin, has lived in Germany for 40 years and a few years ago he discovered his favourite property on the island. Now he lives in Jamaica and is looking forward to hosting guests with a genuine interest in his home country.

The Umbrella Hut is built in the traditional Jamaican style. It is located on a vast property with stunning sea views and tropical garden.
Just here on a rocky cliff there is the fantastic huge sun deck where you can observe the fishermen in their small boats.

Where you’ll be

The vacation cottages are located on a large property with a fantastic sea view from a high cliff at the edge of a tropical wood. From here and the new sun deck you can observe the fishermen in their small boats. You may take a brief walk to the shores of their fishing village and purchase your fresh evening meal. Naturally, you may also do your own fishing directly from our property.

And how about a cooling-down?! From the cliffs you may also dive into the sea whenever the sea conditions allows it (but you have to be a very good swimmer). Swimming shoes are recommended when climbing the cliffs - see photo.

From the comfort of laying on your verandah or in your hammock, you will discover exotic birds and butterflies flying among the tropical vegetation around you.

The landlord, whose house is at the front of the property close to the street, gladly shows and explains to you the wonderful fruits in the garden: mangoes, pineapples, neeseberry, ackee, noni, etc. Try the exotic fruits in season! Ackee, the Jamaica´s nation fruit, must be cooked like a vegetable.

Within walking distance from your vacation cottage is the picturesque Fishermen´s Beach, here the beach has small pebbles - but it is a perfect spot for snorkeling and a refreshing swim. You can also purchase the freshly caught fish and various types of shellfish.
For a day on the beach we recommend the authentic Caribbean Sugar Pot Beach with bar and a restaurant with delicious seafood (lobster etc). It's about 13 minutes by car, you can also go by the cheap Route Taxi (Jamaica - no problem;) Meet the locals, off the beaten track.

Jamaica Papa Curvin has now reached the status of a Reggae Legend. Even before Reggae was born, Curvin came to Europe. He has taken a shine on ska and calypso, the precursors of reggae, in the early 1960s. From the "Bamboos of Jamaica" Curvin’s musical way led him over "Broadway" and "Malcolm's Locks" to "Boney M.". With "Boney M." Curvin toured as a drummer, even in the Eastern Bloc, which was closed for most other Western bands. His singing career began timidly at first but friends and musicians urged him to sing. Curvin could not let his drum go but because his instrument is anyway united with him he accomplished a rare feat: For years he has been playing drums while singing simultaneously. Meanwhile, he is the pure front man. After 40 years in Europe Jamaica Papa Curvin returned to the most beautiful island in the world: Jamaica. In Jamaica he runs a studio and continues what he already started in Germany: Supporting young talents. The secret of his authenticity: "I see my audience as a part of me, when I speak to my audience, I have a feeling I'm talking to myself", Curvin reveals.
