Furso is a traditional langhouse which has been used as a family home since at least the 17th century. It was used as a family home until the 60s and as a summer retreat until the late 80s-despite not having electricity or mains water until the 90s. It has been used as a holiday let since 2001 when it was sympathetically renovated. The original character and many original features were kept intact, but modern comforts are also included, meaning your stay here will be a truly unique experience.
The space
This cottage was originally built as a traditional butt-and-Ben, with the bedroom at one end and kitchen at the other. It has since had an extension built and been sympathetically renovated, adding modern amenities whilst retaining traditional features. You’ll have the whole house to yourself, plus a large garden to explore out front. You’re surrounded by fields and next to a working farm but shouldn’t be impacted by them at all.
Guest access
You have the entire house plus large garden all to yourselves.
Other things to note
It’s worth bearing in mind that whilst the house has been renovated and has had many modern features added (from underfloor heating to electric shower), the cottage is still centuries old and so is not 100% comparable to a luxury resort. As long as you know this before booking you’ll have a fantastic time!

Furso is in the middle of the countryside, just under a mile away from the closest main road, and is located close to a working farm. The cottage is surrounded by fields and has a wee burn flowing along the bottom of the garden - no hustle and bustle but plenty of countryside sounds!
