The space
TLDR: Please treat our home as you would your own when you are staying.

Bel-Ami, which roughly translates as “good friends”, is our "home from home" when we visit family and friends in the UK. When we are not around, the lodge is available for rent. It contains some personal things and it is not operated as an exclusive rental property or to the standard of a 5-star hotel. This is reflected in our nightly rate which is lower than other properties of its size.

Guest access
The whole house is available for use. For people with limited mobility, the main floor offers step-free access with 81 cm (32 inch) doorways. Books, games, jigsaws and DVDs are available in the lodge for guests to enjoy. A selection of maps are also available for walking or cycling - we ask that you please leave these in the property for other guests to access.

Other things to note
There is no access to the lakes from the lodge and swimming in the lakes is not permitted.

We do allow pets but ask that they are kept off the furniture (including beds) and that you clean up after them in the garden and while out walking. Dogs must be kept on leash while on the estate - there are plenty of walks nearby where dogs can be allowed off leash.

We have a Virgin Pure water filter installed which provides, hot, room temperature and chilled water. This means there is no kettle in the property.

We have a type 2 (untethered) EV charger installed. Details on how to use the charger are available on request as it requires the use of an app and an additional fee.

Neighborhood highlights

Pentney Lakes is a private estate in West Norfolk offering a tranquil and restful environment to relax, unwind and enjoy this unspoilt part of England. Set within 275 acres of lake and woodland, the estate offers a number of leisure activities. These include water skiing, fishing and walking, all available onsite or within walking distance (additional cost for water skiing and fishing). There is also a children's play area and the Parkside Cafe and Bar that is open for breakfast and bar snacks over the weekend if you don't feel like cooking.

Golf and horse-riding are available in neighbouring villages. The stunning North Norfolk coastline is a short drive away, with the beautiful unspoilt beaches of Holkham and Hunstanton and entry points for over 84 miles of coastal paths. The Queen's estate of Sandringham is also within easy reach, and there are several historical sites such as Castle Rising and Castle Acre to explore. The towns of Kings Lynn and Swaffham provide opportunities for shopping and dining out, while King's Lynn offers a glimpse of its maritime history, being the birthplace of Captain George Vancouver, who established the Canadian province of British Columbia. Local village pubs are another great way to experience this charming corner of England.
