Peace and quiet

This home is in a quiet area.

Dedicated workspace

A room with wifi that’s well-suited for working.
The Owners' Retreat is a custom 2018 addition to Moms' Beach House, a third-row family home we share part-time with others. Designed for year-round comfort, with accessibility features including an elevator.

The adjacent Guest Quarters, with it's own entrance and porch, is separated by a locked interior door. Exterior staircase and amenities under the house are shared.

Great for a small family or two couples! For more guests, reserve the whole house and we'll open the interior door for you.

The space
We built this two-bedroom addition to Moms' Beach House for our future retirement, but we'll share it with you for the next few years!

The bedrooms on separate floors and two porches create a comfortable getaway with enough privacy for two couples. The elevator, as well as the safety features in the main level bathroom, make this home easily accessible to most visitors.

Off-season, enjoy deserted beaches and marsh wildlife. Warm up in our steam room, watch movies in front of the electric fireplace and prepare a meal in the chef's kitchen.

The Owners' Bedroom on the main level has a king bed and a luxury en suite bathroom with a steam room/shower, heated tile floor, large soaking tub, heated bidet toilet seat, and grab bars around the tub, shower, and toilet for added safety.

"The Loggia Suite" on the upper floor has a queen and a twin bed, a private bathroom, semi-private loft area, and a sheltered exterior porch ("The Loggia") with an expansive ocean view. This area does not have elevator access.

The kitchen opens onto the living and dining area, is well-equipped, and has space for two or more cooks. We have coffee makers (drip and French press), blenders, plenty of dishes, and kitchen tools. You are welcome to use any salt, pepper, and spices you find in the cabinet and condiments from in the refrigerator.

The large dining table seats up to 8 people; great if you are reserving both parts of the property for a larger group. We often use one end of the table for games and jigsaw puzzles.

The comfortable living space has sofas, club chairs, a 55-inch television, and a media console with a cozy electric fireplace.

In addition to the upstairs ocean-view porch, there is a generous screen porch that extends the living area on the main level. The screen porch receives morning sun but is protected on the west side from the afternoon sun. Roll-up shades offer privacy or allow you to block the morning sun.

We have beach accessories and bicycles we are happy for you to use. The space under the house is shared with the Guest Quarters and includes a shower with hot water and a dressing area, porch swings, hooks for hammocks, bikes in several sizes, beach toys, and a park grill for charcoal grilling.

We have a couple of kayaks that we may make available to responsible adult guests. We ask for a separate agreement, a commitment to safe use and care, and a fee (less than local rental companies) to offset our costs.

Guest access
The entire unit is available for your use, except for a couple of locked storage areas.

The Owners' Retreat and The Guest Quarters are separated by a locked interior door. There is dedicated parking for each part of the house. The entire unit with a screen porch and second floor porch are available for your exclusive use.

(Note: "Moms' Beach House- Guest Quarters" is the original 3-bedroom, 2-bath house, renovated in 2023. Search for "Moms' Beach House Guest Quarters" or Moms' Beach House Family Retreat Two Kitchens" to find other rental options.)

And if you need space for more than 5 guests, check out our whole house listing, "Moms' Beach House, Family Retreat, Two Kitchens." It's a great set up for a large family (up to 11), and we will be happy to open the interior door for you!

Other things to note
Please provide your full name and some information about yourself and your group when you request to book.

Moms' Beach House is our family vacation home and intended retirement home and we hope you understand that we are very protective of it! We are more likely to accept reservations from people who have excellent reviews from other hosts or who can provide a reference.

Neighborhood highlights

Oak Island is a lovely little beach town with lots of wildlife and natural areas. You won't find a roller coaster or giant high rise hotels, but there are several great local restaurants, fun shops to explore, a canal for kayaking, a marsh with interesting birds to view, friendly people and a beach that never seems too crowded. The walk from our house to the closest beach access is just about 2-3 minutes.
