I have never felt so at home in all the nine years I have travelled in India. Ekta is a very warm, relaxed and helpful hostess. She's perfect, in fact. She made me feel completely at home; and at the same time, she gave me privacy and space. Whenever I needed anything, she was right there, either in person or on the phone, to assist. But she went many steps further -- teaching me how to choose and grind spices, cooking delicious local specialties and listening when I needed someone to talk to. Ekta is more than a hostess, she is a friend.
Ekta lives in the two-bedroom apartment, and rents out the second bedroom to female solo travellers. It comes with a closet and private bath. Upstairs there is a rooftop terrace, perfect for sunning or morning yoga. The metro stop is literally a three-minute walk, there's a small but good market about a five minutes' walk away (loads of food options) ... and if you're into yoga, the Sivananda Yoga Centre is less than 10 minutes' walk. You can use the kitchen for cooking and storing food, or order in, so if you need a place to chill out and relax -- a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Delhi -- this would be a good choice. Staying here also gives you an authentic experience of an Indian household, so you will learn a lot about Indian food and culture.
I cannot recommend Ekta's place enough!
Ekta is a perfect host - totally professional but also goes out of her way to give a personal touch. She was extremely responsive and patient during the booking process, finally upgrading me to a lovely apartment close to the one I booked. The apartment was spotless and complete with everything you could possibly need for a short term stay. The location was ideal, just a few minutes walk to the main market area (with great restaurants including a few inexpensive healthfood options) and close walk to the woods where you can walk or run for hours (the main trail is about 7 km). I hope to book with Ekta again soon!
Ekta is a perfect host, easy to communicate with and incredibly responsive and welcoming. She was accommodating when my dates kept changing and upgraded me to a lovely 3 bedroom apartment (though all the properties she manages are beautiful). The apartment is perfectly appointed for a short term stay, the kitchen fully decked out. The location is also ideal, a few blocks from the main market and short walk to the beautiful woods where you can walk or run for hours (the trail is about 7km). Thanks Ekta!
As someone who has meticulously looked for accommodation in Delhi, I can confidently say that Ekta's apartment is the best place a solo female traveler can find on airbnb. The flat is clean, spacious with plenty of light and with fans and ACs. Ekta is an incredibly hospitable and caring host, and has made my transition to Delhi and living in India very smooth. The location is perfect as it is only a minute away from the metro station - so you can easily find your way home, and giving direction to cab driver is also very simple. There are plenty of restaurants, markets and bakery shops across the street so you will not get bored or get hungry! Wouldn't hesitate to book this place again.
I've been to Delhi many times but staying with Ekta in GKII was probably the most at home I've felt in the city. The neighborhood is fabulous with a market right down the street and a bigger shopping market 5 mins ride away in an auto. The apartment great - really light, secure and clean. And Ekta is a wonderful host - I'm sure I'll be staying with her again when I return to Delhi (in fact I've already recommended the place to a work friend). Thank you so much Ekta - hope to see you soon!
My stay at Ekta's for a month was delightful. The place was clean and cosy and Ekta was always a charming and attentive host. I highly recommand this place to anyone who wants to discover Delhi.
I could not have been more grateful to Ekta for her generosity and hospitality. I wanted a place to stay that would be a balance of a homestay and roommate situation and this was perfect. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the metro and the Kailash colony market. The apartment itself is lovely, with marble floors and tasteful decor, cleaned daily. I had my own bathroom, AC, wi-fi, and felt incredibly comfortable in the apartment. Apart from the amenities, Ekta was simply a terrific hostess. Personable, and extremely knowledgeable about the city, she was also a great person to chat to about life, share a drink or a meal with. I was alone in the city for the first time, and she became a confidante and friend with whom I could share my daily adventures, even made sure I got cake on my birthday. She knew I was a solo woman traveler, and gave me a lot of useful advice. She also took care in helping me plan trips around the city and to Agra, including arranging a fantastic driver. I highly recommend this to any women traveling alone in Delhi and looking for a smart, organized, yet warm and laid-back flatmate.
