Firefly is a beautiful new rustic cabin on 2 acres of private land w/parking. Surrounding windows offer views of pines & a glimmer of Lake Superior.
Perfect for solo adventures & couples willing to pack-in/pack-out. There isn't a cleaner. Your ability to 'leave it as you found it' is fundamental to maintaining lower-cost & a healthy space for the next folks who are seeking a peaceful place to rest, create and rejuvenate. Near Superior Hiking Trail, Coho/Bluefin Bay, Lutsen. NEW~Sauna! 6/1/20

The space
NEW! ~ SAUNA will be completed by June 2020!
Firefly is a newly built, beautifully crafted, one-room timber frame cabin on 2-acres of private land. The 16’x16' log cabin has all-surrounding windows and glimmer-sized views of Lake Superior and pine forest, specially designed and built by arctic explorer, Lonnie Dupre, Musa Abdel-rahman, (see websites for more info), and other friends of the North Shore area. Convenient Parking - right next to the cabin!

You provide :
Queen Sheets.
Towels (kitchen, bathing).
Water (if you don't want to use the well water - see below for more details).

Firefly provides: a queen-size bed with mattress pad, blankets, pillows, a kitchen equipped for cooking (2 burner electric stove, mini fridge, full kitchen dishes/utensils/pots/pans, a toaster oven, garbage bags/foil/etc.), a dining/work table, two lounge chairs, an indoor gas fireplace with a thermostat, an outdoor grill with deck and camping chairs, and a fire pit.
There's a clean, cute outhouse with 30 feet of the cabin (with heat lamp linked to a flip switch inside the cabin and yoga-mat toilet seat to prevent a frozen bum during the wintertime!).

Pack-in/Pack-out: Leave it as you found it - clean - take your garbage with you.

Water: Well water is now available on the land for drinking/cooking/cleaning - you can fill water jugs provided for you.)

Guest access
There is a keypad with a code, so you can let yourself in.

Other things to note
You provide: Queen sheets, Towels, Shampoo/Soap, and Water (if you don't want to use the well water on the land.) There isn't any running water inside the cabin, but you can collect water from the well. It's a natural artesian well. It has been approved for drinking.

You can also bring your own water if you wish, and water is available for purchase at the nearby convenience store - plan for 2 gallons/day. And there are refillable 2-gallon water jugs serving as a faucet over the kitchen sink making it easy to clean dishes/self-wash etc. It empties into a bucket under the sink which can be dumped when full. There’s a plastic tub for easy self-cleaning, and water heats up very quickly in the electric kettle.

There also isn't a cleaner (which saves you on cleaning fees and allows you to check out later than usual!), so your ability to leave the place as you found it is fundamental to maintaining low-cost, & a healthy space for the next folks who are seeking a peaceful place to rest, create and rejuvenate.

Sauna and Bucket Shower is available at Firefly so bring soap/shampoo/towels.

POOL/HOT TUB/SAUNA/SHOWER: You can pay $5 for access to pool/sauna/hot tub/showers at Lutsen Resort (9 mi), or Americinn (0.5 mi away!).

While this is a perfect cozy cabin to tuck into, it’s also a prime little spot for jumping off into adventure!
It is within walking distance of Bluefin Bay Resort and Restaurant, where you can access Lake Superior's Public walkways along the water, including a stunning rocky beach, as well as enjoy happy hour/dinner/seasonal fire pits. Also 2 blocks from Coho Cafe where there's breakfast/lunch/dessert. Also, the General Store on the corner is a combination gas station/liquor store with a stocked grocery store with meat/fish/produce. This little Firefly cabin is just off of Sawbill Trail, the road leading to Boundary Waters Canoe Area, 1.5 mi from the Superior Hiking Trail, 2 blocks from the Superior biking trail, Carlton Peak and other hikes, and 20 miles from Lutsen Ski resort.

Hello! I was a dancer in a company for 15 years, and upon retirement I decided to create this beautiful, cozy, eco-friendly spot and share it with others. My grand dream was to create a larger artist retreat - but living on an artist's budget I needed to start small. And sometimes small is better - efficient and affordable for those who live with the values of needing less 'stuff', and those who know how to find (and create) magic in nature and a peaceful space.
