The facilities is fantastic especially the kitchen and the good view from the bolcony. It definitely a home indeed. It is only 15mins walking to supermarket. Alma and his son are very helpful and honest.
A recommander.
I'm just packing up to leave Gto after 4 full, rich weeks of living here. I want to thank both Alma, the caretaker of the house and at times of me, and Anelore, the owner who lives in DF , for their attention and responsiveness. I feel like I'm leaving my home. Gto has so much to offer. If you have an interest , you can find it here. I suggest always looking carefully at billboards for cultural, social, academic and recreational, activities .
The "departamento" is indeed sunny with lots of light, very spacious and fully equipped. They even provided laundry detergent for the very easy to use washer and, of course , dryer, unless you want to dry Mexican style with a clothes rack on the terrace. The terrace has a great view and hamaca for lazy warm afternoons. Be sure to bring a sweater and light jacket for the mornings and evenings.
The major learning curve was adjusting to the hot water system. I'm now a pro. You have to be patient. No hot water on demand. It seems the yellow tile bathroom is hot water control central. Once it arrives in the sink , you can enjoy a moderate shower, wash dishes in the kitchen or shower in the second bathroom. The water tank is above the yellow bathroom , so I advise to make it the principal bathroom. There is no wifi but it forces you to find hot spots and make discoveries all over this enchanting town. Wifi is widely available in almost all restaurants
My last comment is about location. The apt is about 15 walking downhill minutes, longer on the way back UP. What makes the town so charming is also what makes it challenging a pie . Taxis are cheap and drivers friendly. I accepted quickly that I did not have to walk everywhere. The neighborhood is very Mexican. Bring earplugs for barking dogs and crowing roosters. It's part of life here.Enjoy and discover this treasure of a town.
The house was great with nice views over the city. Location was not too far from the city center and it was a nice walk after dinner. Communication with Anelore was timely and with no dramas.
El depa es muy bonito y agradable. A 10-15 minutos de la Alameda de guanajuato caminando. Aconsejo el regreso en taxi. Alma esta muy al pendiente.
Yes we felt very welcome. This is my first time using this type of service so I might have expected too much. We got in very early and Alma was there to get us settled in. The apartment was way off from what I expected...difficult place to get to. The apartment was very spacious...my bathroom didn't get hot water:(.. love the crazy way to walk to El Centro...about 10 min crazy steep walk to main street. Beautiful area lots of fun if you are open to winging it... Lov the town and food... Gotta seek out Hector at the wine shop he got us white wine not common in the area. El Centro Fri & Sat is party time with locals. Easy place to get around not too many people speak English so be ready to figure it out on your own. Would love to go again.
The flat is lovely and Alma is very sweet. Guanajuato is an awesome city with tunnels, alleys, and mummies! You must visit. Thank you Anelore for letting us stay at your place. We enjoyed the visit! The only note I would leave on the flat is that there are lots of steps as it is on the top floor. This didn't bother us but I just wanted to info other guests. Tina
