Neighborhood highlights

Haus Bamenohl is situated in the heart of the Nature Park Sauerland-Rothaargebirge. The Sauerland, also called the 'Land of a thousand Mountains', is a rural, hilly area spreading across most of the south-eastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, in parts heavily forested and, apart from the major valleys, sparsely inhabited. It is the largest tourist region in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is known in particular for mountain biking & cycling, hiking, water sports and scenic recreation.
It is a one-hour drive from the cities of Cologne and Dortmund, and 2 hours from Frankfurt.

Activities include:
- Cycling: Sauerland-Radring and Lenneroute cycling routes pass right by the house.
- Hiking: the famous Sauerland-Höhenflug as well as many local hiking routes are in the vicinity
- Golf-, sailing- and skiing-opportunities are only a 15-minute drive away.
Attractions in the region include Lake Biggessee, Atta-Cave (one of Germany's largest and most spectacular dripstone caves), PanoramaPark and Fort Fun Adventure Land.

Hypermarkets with a bakery and a drugstore are just 200 meters away, as well as a decent Italian restaurant ("In Vino Veritas"). A little further away are more shops, as well as banks.
