Relax under the stars and Milky Way and enjoy this contemporary casita (2 of 2) in a quiet, private garden (1.25 acres) filled with native plants and walking trails. The 500 sq.ft. interior is beautifully furnished, well-appointed and comfortable. Large covered porches provide the perfect setting to experience the garden and distant mountain views. The property and garden is featured in three recent books, Marfa Modern, Under Western Skies, and Marfa Garden.

The space
The two casitas share the gardens with the main house and owners and full time Marfans, Jim and Jim. The new casitas match the architecture and style of the main house featured in the book, Marfa Modern, Artistic Interiors of the West Texas High Desert by Helen Thompson. (Sky Island).

The property was recently certified night sky friendly by McDonald Observatory and is the perfect area of town for seeing stars and the Milky Way.

The garden and native plantings were recently featured in two books.
Under Western Skies, Visionary Gardens from the Rockies to the Pacific Coast, Published by Timber Press in 2021 (Atkinson, Jewell).
Marfa Garden, The Wonders of Dry Desert Plants, published by Trinity University Press in 2019 and authored by Jim and Jim with two Marfa friends.

Where you’ll be

Marfa, Texas, United States

The northwest corner of Marfa is quiet, has dirt roads, and is as far away from the train tracks as possible while still being in the city of Marfa. Downtown is walking distance (12 blocks) for some, but many prefer to drive to the courthouse area.
