Enjoy the slow pace of farm life at Lazy I Ranch, just 90-minutes from the Twin Cities. Explore the property, 80-acres of regenerative farmland including 2+ miles of mowed trails winding around pastures and through woods, or relax in a hammock overlooking the pasture and our fold of Scottish Highland cattle. Gather around the bonfire, gaze at starlit skies, and fall asleep to the sounds of nature.

The space
Lazy I Ranch is a working farm, dedicated to ethical and sustainable practices. The fold of approximately 30 head of Scottish Highland cattle is grass fed from our own chemical free pastures and hay ground. A common question is, "Does it smell?" Because our cattle are grass fed on plenty of acreage, the only thing you'll smell is fresh air, pine trees, and fresh cut hay if you're lucky enough to be here when we're baling.

The property is also our home (a separate house) and our workspace. During your visit you’ll witness typical workings of the farm like cutting and baling hay, fence repair, harvest and preservation of food from the garden, or you might see us at work on one of our motorcycles or hot rods. Our farm dogs are friendly and love having visitors, and the chickens roam the property freely.

There is plenty to do on the property and nearby: explore the 2+ miles of wooded trails on the property, or spend some time getting to know the farm animals. Stop by the Amish bakery just down the road for some old-fashioned home baked goods, visit a local farmer's market, or pop into town for dining, shopping, or some fun at the casino.

Outdoor adventurers will love the easy access to trails for ATVs, snowmobiles, and mountain biking and the winding country roads are perfect for a day on the motorcycle. Creeks in the area are great for kayaking and there are lakes nearby for swimming, fishing, and boating.

Guest access
ATVs & UTVs are a common form of transportation around here and we are near enough county trails that you can take off from here. The country roads are great rides on motorcycles or mountain bikes. Just watch out for those slow moving Amish buggies!

Other things to note
We love animals but a farm is not always a safe place for a city dog. Our no pets policy is for the protection of all the animals, ours and yours. Some pets, small dogs that are well supervised at all times, may be allowed on a case by case basis. Contact us if you would like to have a conversation about whether this is a good option for you and your pet.

Neighborhood highlights

The property is on a quiet, dirt road that T's on both ends. Our only neighbors are the Amish family down the road and the closest thing you'll see to a traffic jam is the Amish buggies on their way to church on Sunday morning.

There are county trails for biking, lakes for fishing, and creeks for kayaking nearby.

We are under 15 miles from Clear Lake, Turtle Lake, and Amery if you need to make a run to civilization for supplies, antique shopping, or entertainment. There are great places to eat from dive bars with amazing burgers to locally sourced farm to table and everything in between.

Together with my girlfriend, we raise Scottish Highland cattle on our 80 acre farm in Western Wisconsin. Our goal in life is to create a life we don't need a vacation from. Our home is both our vocation and our respite. We love sharing the beauty of it with others.
