We felt very welcome at Bali Cottage. My husband was very skeptical about booking this "hut". He ended up loving it and telling me that I did a great job and it was a good call. I know previous renters had commented on bugs. This was really not a problem for us. We left fans on, we never felt the need to use bug spray. We enjoyed watching the geckos. We also enjoyed the beach and watching the waves crash into the lava formations.
Karen and Ron were excellent hosts. They were very helpful when we had questions. Also seemed to be everything there that we needed to make our stay comfortable and hassle free. We LOVED the Bali Cottage. Thank you so much Karen and Ron!!
We were greeted by Karen and Ron and we could hear some nice soft Hawaiian music in the background - Nice touch. Karen walked us around the cottage and showed us the beach which is a hop away from the Cottage. We were given good information for grocery shopping and places to see. Both Karen and Ron are very generous and gracious hosts. The Cottage is exactly as described and the garden is wonderfully funky. My husband and I read most of the over 100 reviews and knew that the surf can be loud and the wind can cause branches and leaves to hit the roof. We would rather hear those sounds than that of honking cars and traffic. The cottage has a few window frames by the living/dining room with no glass. The kitchen and bathroom are outside so you need to be a nature lover and not a city slicker afraid of insects coming in. We had the company of 3 gecko's which we named the 3 amigos we did not have mosquito problems or any spiders (which can occur). We sat outside until bedtime and enjoyed the stars and the tranquility. Whoever rents this place needs to feel safe and not jump at nature's sounds. Keeping that in mind we would whole-heartedly recommend this place to those who enjoy venturing off the beat and path.
Kealakekua Bay Bali Cottage was a wonderful experience for my husband and I. We we looking for unique accommodations and this place is special! We loved the open air feel of the cottage and all the wonderful finishes from around the globe. Karen and Ron where very accommodating and when we mentioned our lack of coffee, cream and ice - Karen supplied them all.
I had the most wonderful time at Karen & Ron's cottage. This is a unique and wonderful place and it is obvious that so much feeling has gone into creating the experience. The photos don't do it justice. The jungle garden is wonderful - I spent every evening sitting outside to eat and read.
The cottage is really close to the ocean, so there is yet another fabulous place to just hang out and (because the surf was really high) watch all the action, then admire the setting sun.
If you get the chance to book this place, do not hesitate. I miss it already.
My husband and I spent a week in this wonderful treehouse. We both felt that we had finally experienced the Hawaii we had been looking for. The open air concept made it possible to hear the waves crashing, the birds singing, and occasionally the donkey nearby. The kitchen, although small was definitely adequate. The outdoor shower was unique and fun. The teak furnishings beautiful and unusual. We discovered something new everyday. Can't beat the location with a small grassy park and a kayak rental about 1/2 block away. Some of the best snorkeling just a short drive. The description was spot on and Karen and Ron were excellent hosts providing information and a gift of champagne. With our encouragement we had periodic visits from their kitty.
Tausend Dank!
This is a magical place and we had a wonderful stay in Karen and Ron's open-air treehouse. We loved hearing the branches rustling and the waves crashing from the house. The location is just perfect (only a block from the water and snorkeling), and Karen and Ron were wonderful hosts.
My husband and I have lived in Hawaii for almost 14 years. Moved here from another island - Whidbey Island in Washington. Love to bicycle, swim, stand up board, meet new people, travel.
We have lived in California, New York, Washington, Germany, and Switzerland.
Ron's retired Boeing, I am an AutoCAD drafter and work part time at Curves.
Have much Aloha!
