Walking (or paddling) distance from the New England Music Camp/Snow Pond Center for the Arts and 10 minutes from Colby College and downtown Waterville, the Waterfront Cottage is a classic and charming lakefront cottage on Messalonskee Lake. Large screened windows allow you to hear the waves and loons and see the incredible sunsets. The private and hidden front deck is perched right on the edge of the water next to a beach great for swimming or launching the kayaks.

The space
Carefully restored classic lake cottage with full kitchen, small bathroom with shower, bunk room (full-size futon on bottom and twin-size mattress on top), and queen-sized bed in the open-concept main room. Enjoy the private picnic and fire pit area tucked into a pine tree forest. Since this is an original classic Maine cottage, the bathroom is quite small, and if you are tall you might find the shower quite petite.

The cottage also has a beach area that is great for swimming and boating. Kayaks are available for use (two single person kayaks and one two-person kayak). We also have a paddle board for guest use.

There is a smart flat-screen TV with Netflix and Hulu. There is also a record player with a bunch of records to listen to in the evenings. Wi-Fi is also available in the cottage.

Loons, otters, and bald eagles have been spotted from the cottage windows! We also have the very best sunset views.

If you need more space for your group, consider booking with our Barn Loft or Lakefront House listing, which are located on the same property.

Guest access
The cottage is entirely yours for your stay and we respect your privacy. You have access to the front deck as well as the beach and swimming area. Feel free to use the kayaks, paddle board, and flotation devices.

Other things to note
The bathroom is quite small and the shower is not ideal for tall people.
Quiet time after 10 pm; no parties.
A train passes on the other side of the lake which may disturb light sleepers.
If you require additional space, you may book in conjunction with our Barn Loft or Lakefront House listing.

My husband and I live in Maine and I help my father rent his beautiful summer cottage on AirBnB. I'm an online college professor and my husband runs ultra-marathons of 50 to 100 miles. We have two cats named Walnut and Mr. Pinkleton. We love good food and interesting new places!
