Other Things to Note
St. John's Point is famed for it's diving and underwater scenery, flora and fauna, archaeological remains and the award - winning restaurant Castlemurray House. I'm happy to drop and collect so you can have a drink or two.
It's a quiet and peaceful location, care for my animals is paramount. Guests are welome to smoke out of doors.
You would be hard pressed to find a more relaxed and gracious host. Michael could not be kinder or more generous of his time and spirit. For us, the beauty of travel, particularly to Ireland, is to spend time with its people. Michael seems to revel in relaxed conversation with his guests, he prepares a truly lovely breakfast in the morning, too. His home is casual and not fussy and is beautifully tucked away from the road (and the rest of the world) A terrific story teller and the kindest of souls, our trip was certainly enriched by our stay.
What a gorgeous spot. Michael is a wonderful host. We were greeted with freshly baked scones, cream, jam & tea; so delicious! The views are amazing and the location is so peaceful. We even got to help take the girls on their evening constitutional. Waking in the morning to the sound of nothing but birds and distant waves ( and donkeys flirting with my husband ) was so relaxing. There is so much to explore in the area. We'll have to come back to explore some more. Highly recommended!
Michael was a brilliant host! He was so hospitable, and opened up his lovely home to us completely. We felt very welcomed, and very comfortable for the two nights we spent there. We had lots of good chats with Michael, he knows a lot about the local area and Ireland in general. The breakfasts were fantastic - so much choice, and all delicious! The bedroom was huge, with fresh flowers and a wonderful view. The views in general from the property were brilliant - captivating, whatever the weather. It was delightful being able to meet Myrtle, Demelza and Konki Arabella - that was a bonus!
Michael's place on St. John's Point is amazing. There is a peace and serenity among the waves and cliffs that is difficult to describe. My recommendation is that you stay as long as you can! Michael is a superb host with a vast knowledge of the area. His breakfasts were quite gourmet and plentiful. The room we stayed in was very beautiful with windows overlooking the ocean, a comfortable bed and gorgeous, pressed linens. We can't wait to return!
When you get there, please give Myrtle and her girls a hug from Vivian.
My husband and I stayed one night with Michael and the donkeys and we absolutely loved it. The location is amazing, right out on St Johns Point, with an expansive view of nothing but grass, blue skies (well, kind of, it is Ireland after all!) and the coastline in the far distance, the accomodation is warm, cosy and rustic and Michael is a fantastic host.
I arrived feeling a bit tired and sorry for myself with a head cold, Michael quickly bundled me up with a hot water bottle, fresh coffee, freshly baked scones, jam and cream (the best we have had in Ireland). Despite my remonstrations, I was even fed a glass of lemon, honey and seaweed. He then took my husband off to the pub to meet some friendly locals while I curled up in the bed and slept. Perfect!
When you stay here you are sharing the cottage with Michael. There is only one bathroom and meals are taken in the conservatory out the frint, where its lovely and warm, and you can enjoy the views. He gave us plenty of space, but we also sat and chatted. Which we enjoyed immensely.
The scones were the best we have had in Ireland.
About the Host, Michael
So that's me on the right hand side, Demelza on he left. It's my facebook picture too. She is the elder daughter and you'll probably hear them before you see them ! An absolute joy, I spend a lot of time with them love walking with them or without them in the hills around. I also love gardening , a few flowers and a little veg. Like to cook love to eat. Very interested on local history and archaeology. I have taught English as a foreign language and tuition is available if required. I speak a little Italian and some school French but language should never be a barrier to communiction.
