Set on a 30-acre protea farm, Waterways is a family holiday home with 3 jetties and its own harbour on the Hermanus lagoon. With 7 bedrooms spread over the main house and two cottages, there's plenty of space for large groups. When you book, you'll have the entire farm to yourself – a place so picturesque and peaceful, you'll never want to leave. But located between Hermanus (10 mins) and Stanford (15 mins), and 5 mins to the beach, it's perfectly located to explore all the area has to offer.
The space
Property:
Descend the winding driveway through private grounds featuring flowering gums, proteas and pincushions to arrive at green lawns running down to the lagoon. Waterways stands proudly in front of a formidable mountain backdrop. It's a setting that has to be seen to be believed. There is a large swimming pool on the front lawn, while the BBQ and alfresco dining is enclosed in the secure back garden.
Entertainment areas:
Waterways offers several entertainment areas for both summer and winter to experience the tranquil and scenic surroundings at their best.
Lounge areas:
Built in the 1950s, Waterways is surprisingly open-plan. The main lounge area has a huge window overlooking the lagoon and functions well as the central hub of the property. It features two separate seating areas, a fireplace, and a flat-screen TV with DSTV and Netflix.
There is also a seating area for 14 people on the front enclosed patio with further views over the lagoon.
Dining areas:
Waterways has several dining areas to choose from. The main dining table seats 14 people and is on the front patio with views over the lagoon. In winter, there is a cosy wood-panelled dining area that keeps warm if the fire is lit. In summer, you can dine alfresco under the pergola near the BBQ. Little ones can eat at the wood-panelled breakfast nook in the kitchen, if preferred.
Cooking:
With three eye-level ovens, four gas hobs, four electric hobs, and two fridges, the large, kitchen is designed for friends and family to cook together. The kitchen is fully equipped and features is a central prep island, and an additional breakfast nook (prep area) with views over the lagoon. There is a separate scullery with a double sink, dishwasher, and drinks fridge.
BBQ area:
The back enclosed garden is cleverly fenced-off with electric fencing which is not immediately visible. It has two separate BBQs, designed for families and friends to stand around and braai, and two pergolas for shade. Enough wood is provided for one BBQ.
Self-catering:
Waterways is a self-catering venue. Salt, pepper, sugar, and spices are provided. Please bring your oil and vinegar, as well as your favourite pods for the Nespresso machine. You may also need firelighters and additional wood.
Bedrooms:
Waterways accommodates 14 people across 7 bedrooms spread across the main house and two cottages. Most of the bedrooms have separate entrances, so guests can have plenty of privacy from each other. Some of the rooms are grouped in two's for family units. Apart from two queen beds, the bedrooms feature two single beds pushed together - some are made up as two singles, while some are made up as a king. Please see below for bed configuration and more information.

- Close to the kitchen and large enough to add a cot, this is the best bedroom for those with infants.

Guest access
Guests have the entire 30-acre property to themselves. During the week, please expect to find Dave, our property manager, and his staff working at the protea nursery. This is nowhere near the main house, so you won't be disturbed. Dave will check in from time to time to ensure that all is well.

Other things to note
NO BACHELORS' PARTIES ALLOWED. If you host a bachelor party without our knowledge, you will lose your deposit.
Dave, our property manager, will meet you in person and be your point of contact if you need anything during your stay. His number will be provided after your booking is confirmed.
Cleaning service: cleaning can be pre-arranged at an additional R120/hour.
Functions: functions are permitted by prior arrangement only. The fee is R150 per person, per day for any functions over 16 people. We reserve the right to increase this rate for larger events such as weddings, etc.
One load of wood is provided, which is enough for one BBQ/braai. Please bring your firelighters and extra wood if needed.
