Lovingly designed with close attention to detail, the property maximizes access to the outdoors to create a peaceful, relaxed environment for all to enjoy.

The villa has three bedrooms, an open plan seating area/kitchenette and an al fresco dining area.

The bungalow sits alongside the villa and has a huge bedroom that sleeps 4, an open plan kitchen/lounge and its own private wraparound veranda with a private al fresco dining area.

All bedrooms are equipped with A/C, ceiling fans and are en suite with large custom made soaking tubs and beautiful tropical outdoor showers.

Guest access
You will have exclusive access to the entire 4 acre property.

The property has a small pond that is full of fish, turtles and frogs and is a magnet for small birds. Our staff will be happy to lend you a traditional bamboo fishing pole if you are keen. Depending on the season and current water level, kayaking in the pond is also possible.

We have our own herd of goats and water buffalo which are located in a large pen on the perimeter of the property. Our staff will be happy to take you to visit them.

Mountain bikes are available free of charge which you can use to explore the village/rice paddy in the surrounding area.

There is a four story water tower on site with an observation deck at the top- perfect for taking in 360 degree views of the lake, mountains and rice paddies.

For the kids: 10 foot wide trampoline, toddler toy basket, baby cot and high chair are available on request.

Three sweet and friendly dogs live at the property and a motley crew of free range hens that provide our cook with fresh eggs. If you'd prefer them to be put away for your stay, just let the staff know as there is ample space for them in the gated staff area.

Organic tropical fruits grown on the property include: coconuts, jackfruit, bananas, oranges, guava, custard apple, lemons, mangoes, rose apple and pomegranate. Chances are our chef is using some of our homegrown fruit in your welcome drink!

Where you’ll be

Mahasenpura, Southern Province, Sri Lanka

Our villa is on the outskirts of an authentic rural Sri Lankan village near Yala National Park. Our neighbors herd water buffalo in the shallows of the lake that borders our property, it is a sight to behold in the mornings and evenings. We are happily off the beaten track but a grocery store and a few restaurants are about 10 minutes away.

Lives in Sri Lanka
Yala holds a special place in our hearts as it is where we first met on safari back in 2007. Over a decade, two children and a few properties (all labors of love!) later, we are thrilled to be able to share our love of Sri Lanka's famous hospitality and natural beauty with our guests.
