Ballard 1 bedroom plus loft and an AWESOME lovingly repurposed 25' Airstream trailer. A queen in the trailer, a king in the loft and another queen in the bedroom, only bath is off the main floor bedroom. Books up fast, so if you are with a group coordinate quickly!
Just 6 blocks from Market street, you’ll be a perfect quiet distance from all Market street and old Ballard has to offer. 2 blocks from 15th Ave and a D-line RapidRide stop so it’s very accessible to bus-lines as well as a quick drive into downtown and blocks from all of the restaurants, nightlife and shops Ballard has to offer. Just 20 - 35 minutes to the airport by car. Large equipped kitchen with washer and dryer. Apartment is approx 500 sq feet on the first level with another 200 square feet in the loft area. Then another 200 plus square feet in the Airstream in the back yard. The large windows provide great light and give the unit a very open feel. Vented skylights keep the loft and entire space extremely comfortable during the summer. 6 can sleep here utilizing the loft but it would be best if everyone is family or well acquainted as the only bathroom is off the lower bedroom. I use high quality linens and bedding is triple sheeted or duvet covers used and laundered after every guest. There is only the loft with carpets but beds or constantly inspected to insure there are not unwanted guests (bedbugs) left behind. Kid & pet friendly but the loft does not have a railing around it so young children would need to be watched closely. I say sleeps 6 but there is a sectional sofa and room for sleeping bags if you are traveling with children. Email and let me know your request. There is just one bathroom and not a huge amount of communal space so I don't ever want to misrepresent the property and want to make sure people understand the layout.
Wireless internet reaches all throughout house and airstream. Satellite television in the living area, main floor bedroom and Loft. There is a key ring by the back door that has the back door and trailer key on it. The new paint on the back door seems to make it stick a bit so currently it's easier to just use the deadbolt on the back door.
Interaction with Guests
I am on the property often working in the yard or cleaning. If I am not there you will have a key code and there is a small book with notes about the house, neighborhood and local activities. I am typically always available via phone, text or email if you have any questions, concerns or needs. I will typically use the last four digits of the phone number listed on your airbnb profile as your entry code. Monthly rental includes weekly maid service.
Ballard is an old Norwegian fishing village 6 miles north of Downtown. Just a short walk away is Market street and old Ballard with it's great Sunday Farmers Market and all it's shops, restaurants and nightlife. The Locks and Dam, fish ladder, Norwegian Heritage Center as well as Golden Gardens Beach access is just a short walk away.
On 24th Avenue and 58th street is Scooter's probably the best burger stand you will ever eat at. Double Cheese burger with grilled onions and fried mushrooms is my go to!
Near market and 20th Ave is a great dive bar Golden City which also happens to be a great place for Chinese and better yet THEY DELIVER!
There is a dedicated parking spot in the back off the alley and it is 2 blocks from 15th Ave and a D-line RapidRide stop taking you right to the University or downtown.
Other Things to Note
This is an old home and sound travels easily. I want your stay to be pleasant and I realize you may be on holiday but I would ask that you just be respectful of the downstairs folks. Typically it seems the most transference of sound comes in the stairwell and in the bathroom. I put a door at the top of the stairs to try and limit the noise pollution a little bit and then when in the bathroom you may want to not have that deep, cathartic, private conversation with a loved one as it will not be that private :) The rest of the house is fine but for some reason those areas just seem to be amplified!
Smoking on the deck only please. Backyard is fenced so pets are permitted upon approval so please email or call to discuss your requirements.
Facing the home to the left are two white gates. This side of the house is dedicated to the airstream retreat. If you have a pet the front gate latches pretty tight - the back white gate not as much - so please make sure your fur baby isn't small enough to slip under the gate or through the pickets if you utilize the dog door or let them out on their own.
We had a great stay in Ballard at the Bunkhouse. Chris was a terrific host, very responsive and accommodating throughout the process. The Bunkhouse is an a very pretty area of Seattle--we took the the bus from 2 blocks away for our Seattle exploring and Ballard's cute streets are a walk away. The Bunkhouse was clean, well stocked with everything we needed, and comfortable for my family. We even brought our dog, who loved the backyard and walking in the neighborhood. We would stay there again for sure!
Stayed here for a weekend with my parents and we loved it! The house was very clean and inviting. Great location because it's close to Market street, but you don't get all the traffic noise. I stayed in the airstream and slept like a champ. You have to be a little creative to work around the bathroom location but we knew that going in. All in all, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Thanks so much Jonathon - Glad you guys enjoyed. Yeah the bathroom through the bedroom always creates some humble moments! Why I sometimes over explain it - but stay tuned - changes are a coming! Maybe a small addition with a new bathroom, new sleeper sofa. And the airstream an independent rental with it's own kitchen and bathroom!
This place was awesome! Every detail was covered and he was super responsive. There were even some nice snacks to use. I'd highly recommend staying here
Chris was very sweet and friendly. His response was prompt and he was always upbeat and kind, even when we had to cancel (very sick 18 year old dog). Just from my dealings with Chris, I wouldn't hesitate to re-book his place...and hopefully have the opportunity to actually enjoy it next time!
Cozy, amenities extensive, pet friendly, clean, a great host(!!!) and a perfect comfy neighborhood. Description is accurate and spot on notes throughout the home make it easy to enjoy every feature (like the loft skylights). We will definitely stay here again.
The upper bunkhouse is great super cute airstream bedroom and lovely upper deck for wine at night. I loved staying here. I slept in the loft bedroom and the bed was wonderful. Thanks for everything Chris!!
Chris made us feel right at home with a fun and friendly energy that anyone going into a new area looks for. We arrived early and he left us a really kind note later in the day. It was in a beautiful area and super close to downtown Ballard where we had a great dinner only a nice walk away. The airstream was comfy and gave us great rest. waking up with leaves around us and fresh air was sweet. I would recommend the place to anyone coming to enjoy the Seattle area. Thank you Chris! people and places like this are what makes airBnb so cool.

A lab director, a stay at home dad, two teenagers and a cocker spaniel living the suburban dream! We love to entertain and originally started hosting with Airbnb because we had a medical rep that would call on my partner and we preferred he stayed with us when in town. This typically meant a hotel room somewhere would have been paid for and sat empty….We set up an account so we could be his hotel. We enjoyed Airbnb so much that we kept the listing up to meet others. We are now also renting a unit in a duplex we have in Seattle!
