Where you’ll be

Raetihi, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand

Raetihi is situated only 11km from Ohakune and 29km from the Turoa ski fields, snow shuttles operate from the town.
Also easy access to Whakapa and Tongariro crossing.
There are also numerous mountain bike tracks in the area.
Raetihi is famous for having the widest street in the country, the most photographed church, the oldest theatre, built in 1915 and heaps of history around the logging industry. Our own Villa was built in 1880 and is one of the oldest buildings in the town.
Head down the ‘river” road to Pipiriki to catch the jet boat up the river to the bridge to no where, (bookings required) or continue on to Jerusalem and then London, just past London you’ll find a restored water wheel that used to be used grind flour for the region.
Heading north you’ll find the viaduct, which carry’s the Wellington to Auckland overlander daily and is a stunning sight at sun set. A little further on is the famous railway spiral that takes the train up the steep incline to get up to the central plateau.
Of course there’s the mountain to explore in winter or at any other time, with fabulous walks and if you’re looking for a four x four adventure there are plenty of options for this too.
We have a great information centre in Raetihi that can provide you with all the information you need for the region.
