It was outstanding! The hosts are really taking so much care & are family style lovely. The Villa is the perfect place to come down and totally forget all stress. Theres actually no need to visit the Manuel Antonio National Park, cuz all the animals will be closer to you than in the Park. 3 kinds of Monkeys (even the endangered ones), humming birds, iguanas, eagles, butterflies, dragonflies, ... you name it. Its all in your private garden, a couple of feet away - at max! The Villa is perfectly equipped, all you need is there. Very clean and very stylish. Thanx Thomas & Lili for the great time!
Our stay at Villa Malinche was fantastic. The bed is incredibly comfortable, and the property is beautiful. My favorite part of the trip could easily be the mornings I spent reading on the patio. If you are on foot it is a bit of a hike from town, but I really enjoyed the walk and the peaceful neighborhood. Thomas was very helpful and always available. He helped us set up three tours that were all great - mangrove tour, sunset sail, and zip lining. Thank you Thomas for a wonderful experience!
What an amazing place! Thomas has done some amazing upcycling with old wooden beams and other great castoffs, turning them into tables, cupboards, mirrors, and towel racks. The decor was totally charming! We could see the ocean above the canopy, too, which was particularly lovely as we lounged on the patio drinking coffee in the morning and recalling the day's activities in the evening. The squirrel monkeys and capuchins woke us up one morning as they rustled through the cashew tree outside our sliding-glass doors. Then the parrots swooped in to see what was left for them! They hung around for good measure. The pool was perfect for cooling off after our hikes back from town. Oh, how we wished we could have stayed longer! Frank at the Century 21 office in Quepos called Thomas for us when our phone decided not to work--and he came right away to pick us up. We loved everything about Villa Malinche and hope to return next winter. Thanks for an unforgettable getaway!
My husband and I just returned home from our fantastic honeymoon in Costa Rica at Villa Malinche. We were so sad to leave such a beautiful country and such an incredible spot! The Villa and grounds are more lovely than the photos, our hosts were incredibly generous and helpful, and we were near many adventures and sights in the surrounding towns of Quepos and Manuel Antonio but had a quiet and gorgeous place to come back to each day. For us, it was a trip of a lifetime which we'd highly recommend.
Thomas and Lili were fantastic! The room was beyond beautiful, clean and well kept. There were fresh flowers and a whole directory on the area. Thomas was so wonderful to accomodate our early arrival. The views are to die-for and the pool was the perfect oasis. A quick walk down to a private deck and plenty of animal watching. We had monkeys, birds and even walnut trees and mango trees in our own back yard. Our next trip to CR will definitely include Villa Malinche!!!
A lost paradise!
I went to Costa Rica for a wedding in Mid-January in San Jose and decided to explore Manuel Antonio as well. It was so hard to find a place to stay until I found Villa Malinche. The place is just like in the pictures if not better. My experience was like I was away in a lost paradise, enjoying every evening cooking on the grill and the admiring the sunsets. Thomas was very helpful with all the information on the area and he even booked a tour for us!
One evening we had a nice surprise visit by a group of monkeys, we felt like we were lost in the jungle. We took some great pictures of monkeys flying from one tree to another!
If you are looking for a place to stay in Manuel Antonio, I will totally recommend Villa Malinche. The price is very good if you compare it to other places and the place is beautiful, private and clean. My only recommendation is if you are going to rent a car, it will be better to have a small SUV as the house is up in a hill (therefore the great sunsets and views). We had a Suzuki swift, which was very small. We were able to make it up the hill but it would have been easier with a better car.
I will love to go back to Villa Malinche!
Thanks Thomas & Lili for share your home with us.
Thomas and Lilli were great hosts! We loved our 3 day stay at Villa Malinche. The studio was furnished in a truly artistic and antique rustic manner. It was truly amazing to wake up with the call of the jungle wildlife. We even had a pack of white faced monkeys come up to the tree adjacent to the villa. There are many bugs and geckos, just part of the whole jungle experience. Thomas was more than just a host, he helped arrange travel and some of our adventures in Quepos and Manuel Antonio. The Sunset Sail was a great way to see marine life up close. If we have one complaint it is that we weren't able to spend more time there!
My girlfriend and I stayed at Villa Malinche for a week, and we would highly recommend staying here for any couple looking to visit Costa Rica. The pictures posted accurately depict the inside of the Villa, but don't do the natural surroundings justice. The views are majestic. We woke up to beautiful blue skies early in the morning with birds chirping and monkeys howling, and we retired to beautiful sunsets and the similar sounds.
Thomas and Lilly were wonderful hosts. They made us feel like we were staying at a resort rather than their home. We had complete privacy while having the security that help was just above us. Thomas greeted us in downtown Quepos to show us the way to Villa Malinche. The road leading up to Villa Malinche is really long, not paved, and a bit difficult to navigate the first few times. We rented a car which we would recommend because the majority of the activities we did were on the road leading to Manuel Antonio, which was about a 10 minute drive away. Thomas scheduled all of our tours for us, and was easily accessible throughout our stay. We went on a Sunset Sail, Canyoning excursion, and took surfing lessons. On the days we didn't have a scheduled activity, we took our 4x4 onto one of the local beaches and posted up for the day.
We also really loved the area. The town of Quepos provided a nice local flavor with restaurants, markets, and shops, while Manuel Antonio provided a plethora of dining options with beautiful views. The area was small enough to learn your way around quickly and large enough to provide new daily activities for our week long stay.
Thank you, Thomas and Lilly for an unforgettable vacation. Pura Vida!
We loved our stay with Thomas and Lili! We had never been to Costa Rica before, and they made our experience truly wonderful. We rented a car at the airport and Thomas gave us great directions to Quepos. The drive up to the Villa is a bit rough, but we managed to get up and down multiple times in our little rental car.
We REALLY enjoyed the new swimming pool, and spent most of our days lounging in the peace and quiet. We loved watching the sunrise and sunset from our little patio, and we saw monkeys and iguanas just a few feet away from the Villa.
Thomas was extremely helpful, and he let us know of some of the great local places to eat. He also set up a tour for us at the Manuel Antonio National Park, which we enjoyed very much. Lili is so sweet and her massages are wonderful!
Overall, the Villa was very clean and private. It was a perfect oasis. We would definitely go again! Thanks Thomas and Lili!
Thomas and Lili have a beautiful property just outside Quepos, near Manuel Antonio. We could not have asked for better hosts or a more beautiful space to spend our vacation. The villa is as beautiful and creative as represented in the pictures. It feels very private and luxurious - we loved the openness of the villa, the fully stocked kitchen, the large bathtub, and the feeling of being surrounded by nature.
Tomas and Lili are very helpful and communicative, offering plenty of great advice that helped us really take advantage of our time in Quepos/Manuel Antonio. We loved every minute of our stay and would absolutely stay there again!
