Welcome to the picturesque village of Saint Léonard in the heart of the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel ! We invite you to relax in the charm and comfort of this converted village barn with views on the village, historical priory and the bay.

The space
We have transformed this old stone barn into a cosy space, renovated with modern amenities and comfort. A beautiful architect designed house with a lovely homely feel, situated in the heart of the village across from the old priory and it's garden.

On the ground floor enjoy a large living space with a modern kitchen open onto the dining and living areas. This is a lovely luminous room with access to the terrasse and the little garden with it's fish pond. The garden gives onto a quiet and quaint back street.

On the top floor is a big master bedroom with a large double bed, closet space, views on the priory and it's garden and a large ensuite bathroom with shower, sink and closed in toilet.
A second bedroom with two single beds/double bed, closet space and views on the priory and it's garden. Next to it is a bathroom with a bath/shower, sink and toilet.

PLEASE NOTE
• children are welcome but must be well behaved and please note this is not a child secure house in that the stair is open with no guard rails or balustrade, the windows have no guard rails and the fish pond is not fenced in. We are not equipped for babies.
• our price for two people is for a couple requiring one room/double bed. An extra 15€/night will apply for 2 people requiring the use of the 2 bedrooms and bathrooms

Saint Léonard is a quaint little village situated in the bay with fantastic views on the Mont Saint Michel.

In 1087 William the Conqueror gave a manorialism to the abbaye of Saint Etienne who founded the priory around which the village grew.

The priory across from the house is now private but the church (no bells) is open to the public and is just around the corner from the house.

In previous centuries, the village lived off the manufacture of salt harvested in the bay as well as fishing and the gathering of seafood. You can visit our local museum, the Ecomusée de la Baie a short walk from the house which has a permanent exhibition on the plants and animals of the bay and the traditional activities such as the making of salt.

In the village discover Saint léna, a lovely local gift shop, an atypical hair salon, Cara-Meuh, a farm that produces and sells organic home made caramel and local organic produce, the little art gallery MLC, the priory and the local museum l'Ecomusée de la Baie.

The Pointe du Grouin at the tip of the village has fantastic views on the bay and the Mont Saint Michel. The famous "traversée de la baie" (walks across the bay with a guide) leave from this area and from the nearby village of Genêts. This is the best vantage point for watching the mascaret (tidal wave) come in at the speed of a galoping horse!

The salt marshes ("les grèves"), a short walk from the house, are home to many species of bird and of course the famous sheep of the Bay of Mont Saint Michel ("moutons de pré-salé").

There is no shortage of beautiful walks in the area, including a hiking trail that passes through the village and behind the house.

In Genêts, the next village (4 minutes drive) there are some very good restaurants, a bakery to grab some fresh bread, yummy pastries and home made ice cream and a small convenient store.

There are more restaurants, bars, cafes, stores, large supermarkets and an organic shop in the town of Avranches (10 minutes drive).

Nous sommes Luke et Claire. Nous nous sommes rencontrés dans une auberge de jeunesse à Montréal au Canada où nous avons vécu quelques années avant de nous installer en France où Claire a grandit. Luke est australien d'origine et naturalisé français et Claire est belge et anglaise, née en France. Nous avons passé une grande partie de notre temps libre à rénover de vieilles maisons que nous aimons maintenant partager avec nos hôtes. En été Luke tient un petit café ambulant dans une 2cv fourgonnette reconvertie. Nous aimons les plaisirs simples de la vie, les balades dans la baie, s'occuper de notre potager et nos 2 moutons, bricoler et créer.

We are Luke and Claire. We met at a youth hostel in Montreal Canada where we lived for a few years before settling in France where Claire grew up. Luke is Australian and naturalised French and Claire is Belgian and English, born in France. We spent much of our spare time renovating old houses that we now enjoy sharing with our guests. In summer Luke runs a little café out of a converted 2cv car. We love the simple pleasures in life, walks in the bay, tending to our vegetable garden and 2 sheep, tinkering and creating.
