The space
Welcome to the House on the Edge of Time—a truly rare and unforgettable escape. Designed in 1977 by architect Paul Nonnast and inspired by Paolo Soleri's Arcosanti movement, this handmade home is sculpted into the rocky hillside using natural materials and repurposed finds. It’s a blend of rugged terrain, visionary architecture, and offbeat charm.
Before You Book:
This house isn’t for everyone—and that’s okay! We want guests who will love its quirks as much as its beauty.
This may not be the right stay for you if:
• You prefer a standard hotel experience.
• You’re uncomfortable with uneven ground or narrow walkways.
• Climbing through low doorways or stepping over ledges is a challenge.
• You require ADA-compliant accessibility.
• You’re traveling with pets or young children (neither is permitted).
• You prefer pristine interiors. This is the desert, it's dusty, and critters are around!

What to Expect:
• A stone-and-earth structure literally built into the mountain.
• Walkway access with uneven surfaces and rock ledges—use good judgment and situational awareness.
• Low, narrow doorways between rooms—you’ll need to step over and duck.
• A cozy kiva fireplace, rock-lined patio, and outdoor seating with unmatched views.
• A shower located in the main living space (a remnant of the original design).
• A private toilet area attached to the main house, but accessed from outside
The Space
The House on the Edge of Time is more than just a place to sleep—it's a living, breathing experience. Prepare meals using the induction cooktop, and enjoy open-air dining surrounded by nature. Step outside to enjoy a refreshing cold plunge pool or unwind in the hot tub under the stars.
In season, guests are welcome to harvest fresh produce from the vegetable garden and fruit trees scattered around the property. Whether you’re sipping tea on the patio, soaking in the sights and sounds of the desert hillside, or stargazing from the secondary bed on the balcony, every moment here invites you to slow down, connect, and truly be in the space.
In-Progress Renovations:
The home is undergoing thoughtful improvements to enhance comfort while preserving its artistic integrity. If you value creativity over polish, you’ll love what this space has to offer.
Other Things to Know:
• Located just one mile from town on a dirt road.
• No pets allowed. The property has a sweet but large dog (people-friendly, not pet-friendly) who is securely fenced off.
• Not kid-friendly due to the terrain and structural layout.

Guest access
You’ll have full access to the Earth House during your stay. It’s located next door to my home, but your space is private and peaceful. Parking is available for one standard-size vehicle in a designated spot on the road. If you have a larger vehicle or special parking needs, please contact me in advance—the road must remain clear at all times.
Only two registered guests are allowed on the property. Unauthorized visitors are not permitted; bringing unregistered guests will result in cancellation without refund. If you’d like to request an exception, just reach out—I’m happy to discuss it.
This retreat is ideal for travelers seeking quiet, solitude, and a space to unplug just outside of town.
Other things to note
The home is located down a dirt road—any standard vehicle will handle it fine.
No smoking anywhere on the property.
Grill available—please clean after use or a $75 cleaning fee will apply. Please use black pots/pans stored under the grill. Do NOT use kitchen (induction) cookware on grill!
Cold plunge pool is open late Spring through early Fall. Please keep covered after use. It is fresh water and drains into the yard. If you need to drain, make sure metal filter is in the bottom of pool. Open green box in yard and use the lever closest to the garden.
Hot tub: Shower before entering, no glass, and no clothing (swimwear optional but not recommended due to detergent residue). Improper use requiring full cleaning will result in a $150 fee. Cleaned and sanitized between every guest.

Desert environment: The house is built into the landscape and surrounded by nature. You may encounter insects, mice, scorpions, or snakes, especially in warmer months. The home is kept clean, but please be aware and use common sense—shake out your shoes, keep screens/doors closed, and don’t leave food out.
Monthly maintenance: Landscaping and hot tub maintenance occur the second Tuesday of every month, usually around 10 AM.

Seasonal Expectations for Guests
Spring:
Still possible to see snow early in the season.
Days: 60s–70s | Nights: low 30s
Gas heater in the living room + electric heaters in bedrooms.
Expect wind and falling pine needles (thanks to the beautiful, shady pine tree above the studio).
Summer:
Warm days, cool nights—pack layers.
Studio bedroom has A/C and fans available throughout the house.
Be mindful of desert wildlife (including snakes). Use caution outdoors.
Fall:
Early fall is warm; late fall can be chilly with occasional snow.
Watch for icy patches in shaded areas.
Heaters available throughout the home.
Winter:
Still an option for hardy souls—just contact me directly to discuss.
