In Tennessee wine country

A working vineyard in rural West Tennessee, with rolling countryside and quiet evenings after the tasting room closes

Rustic loft with handcrafted details

A cozy loft above the tasting room with yellow-poplar walls, oak floors, and a clawfoot tub

A place guests keep coming back to

Guests return again and again, with many on their second, third, or even sixth visit
Nestled in the middle of the largest fruit producing vineyard in the state, your stay includes a complimentary bottle of White Squirrel wine and in season, fresh flowers from the farm. Once settled in, you may stroll the vineyard & farm with a glass of wine or bring a fishing rod and cast for bass in the vineyard pond. Breakfast will be country style... home grown blueberries in pancakes, bacon and eggs and seasonal fresh fruit from the farm.

The space
It’s an intimate suite with a shabby chic rustic elegance... A natural and comfortable feel as you are surrounded by “yellow-poplar” walls (Tennessee's official state tree) and “white oak” hardwood floors. An intimate and cozy space in a natural setting with seating area, t.v., lots of light & windows, clawfoot tub, and private entrance and staircase. Huge windows open to the rear vineyard and afternoon sunset, with views of rosebushes, landscapes and tree lines in the distance. Another interior set of large windows open to the interior of the winery below, and can be opened or closed by choice. There is a private entrance to the staircase ascending to the suite. There is a very comfortable Queen Murphy bed with plush Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress that easily pulls down for sleeping, and can be tucked back up during the day.
For guest looking for a morning run, the rear of the farm accesses miles of uncongested, rolling roads (Bill, the owner is an avid runner and used these roads to train for marathons).

Guest access
Guests will have a private door entrance to the the suite, and will have access to the winery, as all customers do, during regular business hours. Guests will be able to lounge in the outdoor pavilion tables and grounds at their leisure at all times.

During your stay
Marjie and I live on the vineyard grounds, just a short ATV ride from the winery.

Other things to note
Kenton is home to the largest concentration of White Squirrels in North America. Drive into town, see our true albino Squirrels and have lunch at the White Squirrel deli.

My work: tend my vineyard
Fun fact: Running marathons and playing trumpet
What makes my home unique: above a winery
I like to spend time with my guests
Marjie and I are both renaissance people. She is an art teacher, resident artist, song writer, candle maker and soap maker. She has her own line of products at “Tennessee Candle Company”. I was a music major in college and I still play the trumpet. I tend the vineyard and I am involved in every aspect of White Squirrel Winery, our family business. I have run 34-marathons and was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives 5 times. I’m retired from politics and focused on building our family business along side my wife, my daughter, her husband, my youngest son and my mother.
