About this listing
Tucked into a quarter acre in Historic Old Bend with fruiting trees, expansive landscaping, finished patio, chickens, and bees Camp Landich is smack in the center of town within walking distance to downtown and the Old Mill District.
We call our home Camp Landich because friends say they feel like they are at sleep-away camp when they stay here. Built in 1924 our home has been updated yet retains many original details. Our private guest house is for rent with access to our main home as well. It is an updated garage (at one time a home office/art studio) separate from the main house. Note: the guest house does not have plumbing. It's a short walk into our home for the facilities.
Our centrally located two-story home in Bend's historic district is blocks from downtown and the Old Mill District. Meander through the double lot with mature trees (fruit, deciduous and one monster of a Ponderosa), established landscaping and a finished patio with fire pit and raised beds. A pump track is under construction and a zip line under consideration. We have six chickens (no roosters!), a beehive and a seasonal greenhouse. We also have a house cat, Betty.
Camp Landich is walking distance to historic downtown, Drake Park, Galveston District, the Deschutes River, the Old Mill Shopping District; a short bike ride to Phil's Trailhead and thirty minutes to Mt. Bachelor. Easy access to the Cascade Lakes highway, too.
We live here so on occasion we are working in the yard or possibly inside the house. We try to make the impact on guests as minimal as possible.
Set off on your Central Oregon adventure from our downtown location. You'll have access to our fully equipped (sans microwave) kitchen, barbeque with a rotisserie, living room and dining room overlooking our yard, and a large porch for watching the world go by.
Guest house amenities: updated construction, radiant floor heating, lofted ceiling with exposed beams, down comforter, small refrigerator, french press, local coffee (Strictly Organic), filtered water, and privacy. Secure wifi. Street parking. Plenty of secure gear storage.
There is one full bathroom in the main house and no plumbing in the guest house. It's a short walk between buildings, just like at camp.
Townie bikes with locks and helmets are available for use with notice. We can provide snowshoes and many other last minute items for your trip. Please ask.
The second floor is reserved for our family privacy.

We love Bend and sharing tips with guests! We're happy to give suggestions or leave you to wander and discover on your own. I'm currently a stay at home mom and spend most of my days enjoying Central Oregon with Harrison (born in January 2014).
***As a chef with twenty years experience I am considering providing a meal for guests (breakfast or dinner). If you are interested in this service please let me know and we can work out the details.
Our house is a short walk to the Old Mill, downtown, or the Galveston district. Old Bend is a quiet residential neighborhood with lots of families and professionals. We love that we are able to share it you. Please be respectful when you're our guest.
Feel free to ask for recommendations! We're happy to help you design your best Bend trip.
Easy access to skiing and biking/hiking trails. The interchange for Hwy 97 is about a mile away- close enough but not a nuisance as we're in a neighborhood.
There is always something happening in Bend to scratch your itch.
We have plenty of growlers in the guest house for your use while you're in town.
Park your car and walk or bike to just about everything.

Only guests on the reservation may stay overnight.
We prefer guests bring their own toiletries.
Please be respectful of water usage: Central Oregon is on a drought alert.
Had a great stay at Camp Landich! The room was very comfortable even though the bathroom was in the main house. It was great for a solo traveler who just needed a clean/quiet/safe place to sleep.
The location is good, close to the river and a short walk to downtown.
We had a great stay at Sara's little "Camp Landich". Comfortable bed, everything you need as a traveler (free parking, coffee machine, washing machine..) and the way to the restrooms was really short. We would stay there again next time!
Sara and Rob made us feel comfortable and welcomed us into their beautiful space. Yes, the bathroom is located inside the house but we could tell it would be no issue at all as they were sure to reassure us we were welcome inside any time to use this shared space (so future air bnb-ers should not be deterred by this!) They took time to answer our questions and offered suggestions on how to get around town. The room was very clean, comfortable and exactly what we needed during our quick trip to Bend. We particularly loved that this location made it convenient to walk downtown and walk to a concert nearby at the Les Schwab center. Thank you! We will certainly recommend Camp Landich to our friends and family.
Our experience was great. The location of their place was perfect for getting to anywhere we needed to go in downtown Bend.We walked everywhere and it was just perfect. The room was Decorated beautifully. Sarah was helpful and recommending some terrific restaurants for us to go to. We would stay there again.
The loveliest little nest in the heart of the old historic downtown Bend. The room was very clean and so were the bed sheets. Everything was well thought of. There was a coffee and tea station, a mini fridge to put our snacks and beer from local breweries. Our hosts Sara, Rob and little Harrison were so welcoming and made us feel at home right away. Shared bathroom was definitely not an issue. Shower jet was very powerful too. We wish we could have spent more than 1 night. They created an amazing and cozy backyard with comfortable chairs, hammock and beautiful light bulbs hanging from the sky. Restaurants and breweries are walking distance!
We highly recommend staying at Camp Landich.
We had a relaxing time at Camp Landich! Sara greeted us with her son and they showed us around, answered questions and gave suggestions on places to explore in Bend. The room was cozy, comfortable and sharing a bathroom was not a problem at all. We cannot wait to return to Bend and hope that Camp Landich is available!
Sara and Rob were great hosts! They were actually out of town while we were there, but they had the place ready to go and had contacts and directions ready to go for us.
Sara also reached out a few days before we got into town to ensure we understood everything, and was very responsive to my questions.
About the Host, Sara And Rob
My husband, Rob, and I moved to Bend from Boulder, Colorado in 2008. We'd both grown up on the Front Range and when the opportunity arose to try something new, we jumped. We're both professionals in Bend; I'm a chef/writer, Rob is an OR nurse at St. Charles.
As of January 2014, we have a new addition to our home, Harrison.
We're both passionate about riding bikes, enjoying our friends, eating delicious food and sipping good beer. We try to make the most of our days since we are so lucky to live in beautiful Central Oregon.
If you'd like suggestions or ideas we can provide that for you. If you'd rather stay mellow and do your own thing; we are respectful of that as well.
We look forward to sharing our home with you!
