Calm and convenient location

Guests say this area is peaceful and it’s easy to get around.
BSL Permit No. 099. Newly renovated studio filled with all you need for the perfect vacation: private patio, kitchenette, big BBQ, wash/dryer, TV with cable, Wi-fi, private parking, jacuzzi tub, more. Walk to beach, shops, restaurants, train depot, Main Street antiques. This is a studio cottage with queen bed and sofa bed in the same room.

This cottage is walkable from the Amtrak station - or if you would like a ride from the station, please contact us.

The space
Formerly owned by Margie and Reg Morken this has been a special vacation spot for many years. Shaded by the boughs of a 300-year-old tree with Spanish Moss swinging in the ocean air, the cottage has just been outfitted with custom-made bedroom furniture and a brand new sleeper sofa. Both bed and sofa mattress feature a comfy gel foam sleeping experience. You are on almost an acre of garden, steps from attractions in the town, but it feels like your own private getaway.

Guest access
In addition to the comfy cottage with your own private patio and outdoor table and chairs, guests may enjoy the over half acre of land that the main Palm House sits on. Enjoy our garden and front veranda, but don't miss the nearby duck pond, public playground and tennis courts.

The cottage is in old town Bay St. Louis, within easy walking distance to many local restaurants, shops, a museum, visitor's center, the Depot District, and - of course - the beach!

Other things to note
Palm Cottage is pet friendly as well as our beaches and town. Our property is 0.6 acres with six foot wooden fence surrounding rear property and wrought iron fence in front. There is no gate enclosing the driveway access in front, but rear drive is enclosed with six foot wooden gate.

Pet fee is $45 which covers the entire stay, up to two (2) pets. We do wish to know the breed, size and type of pet accompanying you during your stay. We have a child and pet at our home and want to confirm everyone will be compatible. You can select pet and message us the details. The pet fee will be added to your reservation.

We have an nine year old child and three pound chihuahua, therefore, respectfully ask that aggressive breeds not stay in the cottage.

Airbnb collects 9% sales tax and remit to MS Department of Revenue. We wanted to inform our guest of this charge.

This place is perfect for people who are driving in for the weekend, but snowbirds will also love it for extended stays in the winter.

This property is very close to the train’s Depot District, which features several restaurants and boutiques. The cottage is walkable from the Amtrak station - or if you would like a ride from the station, please contact us.

The Second Saturday Artwalk in Old Town is also a highlight.

Neighborhood highlights

Within a stone’s throw, guests will find Depot District restaurants and musuem, 100 Man Hall, the historic Little Theatre and the popular duck pond park. A two-block stroll can lead to the beach or to the shopping district of Old Town, where you’ll find galleries, antiques and coastal cuisine.

Bay St. Louis is an exceedingly charming town built on some of the highest ground on the Gulf Coast. Part of the reason the town is so historic is the train that runs near the house. We provide guests with earplugs if they need it, but most feel it's part of the charm of the Bay.

Meet your hosts

My work: Social media maven, Captain's wife, mother of Pearl
Lives in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi
A country mouse from Alexandria, Louisiana, I got to New Orleans as quickly as I could. It was the year 2000, I was 18. I was sure I was destined for a career in the newsroom, but majored in Public Relations instead. I've worked for the New Orleans Tourism Board, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and the New Orleans Museum of Art. When things in New Orleans got too hectic, I would always jump in my little convertible and take a spin along the Gulf Coast. A few years ago, I got married and got a new job at the Times Picayune | NOLA. As my new husband and I were spinning along the coast, we ran across a street named Blaize Ave. My great grandmother was named Clara Blaize. I went back home to my grandma and being the nosy journalist that I am, I started asking questions. Turns out my great grandma grew up in Bay St. Louis. Just down the street from our new dream home and guest cottage. (Don't you love it when life comes full circle?) We love New Orleans, but are quickly falling in love with Bay St. Louis and we're sure you will, too. When we're not tootling around the French Quarter (where my husband and I have a condo, too) you'll find us on our sailboat or on the porch of our Palm House on Union Street. I love unlocking the magic of New Orleans for folks and I'm looking forward to discovering and sharing the magic of Mississippi. Won't you join us? Instagram: @baystlouisoldtown & @gracelovesnola
