Escape the crowds and discover authentic Kyoto. Our spacious two-story townhouse is a 2-minute walk from Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and steps from historic Kamishichiken. Relax in your private sanctuary: a stunning Shigaraki pottery semi-open-air bath overlooking a serene inner garden. Perfect for families or groups seeking comfort and a true taste of local life.

The space
•Layout: This expansive 99-square-meter townhouse comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests. It features two Japanese-style tatami rooms, a Western-style bedroom, and a traditional tea room that can be converted for additional sleeping space. Each floor has a shower for added convenience. The home includes two bathrooms and two toilets.

•Modern Amenities: The home is equipped with a TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, air conditioning, an air purifier, a washing machine, and a fully-stocked kitchen. Complimentary tea and coffee are also provided. For your stay, we offer premium POLA bath products, a hairdryer, and a full set of toiletries.

•What we love about this house: The exquisite semi open-air bath made of traditional Shigaraki pottery offers a luxurious and tranquil bathing experience with a view of a private garden. Beyond the home itself, the location is truly special — you are just a short walk from Kamishichiken, the oldest of Kyoto's five geisha districts, where you can stroll lantern-lit streets, dine at traditional ochaya teahouses, and perhaps catch a glimpse of a maiko in her evening finery.

•Family-Friendly: Children’s amenities such as chairs, beds, and kitchenware are available upon request, as are a rice cooker and oven.

•Nearby Attractions: You are just a 2-minute walk from Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, famous for its monthly flea market on the 25th and stunning seasonal scenery. A short stroll brings you to Kamishichiken, Kyoto's oldest geisha district, with its traditional teahouses and cultural performances. The world-famous Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion) is also within easy reach.

At Kouhaku, we believe a machiya is more than a building. It is a living gallery of Kyoto's ancient aesthetic-a placewhere architecture, craf, and culture converge. Each of our 22 Kyomachiya townhouses has been carefullv restored andcurated as a private sanctuary, inviting you to slow down, lookclosely, and experience Kyoto not as a tourist, but as aresident. In a world that moves too fast, we offer you somethingrare: the unhurried pleasure of Kyoto living. We lookforward to welcoming you.
