Where you’ll be

Waldport, Oregon, United States

Waldport is a small city on the Oregon Coast’s Alsea Bay. The sandy Alsea Bay provides an ideal place for boating, fishing, crabbing and watching herds of harbor seals. The beach has a gorgeous stretch of sand, offering plenty of space for building sand castles, flying kites, and hunting for beach glass or seashells. In Waldport, vacationers enjoy bike rentals, kayaking, and shopping for antiques. The cute town of Waldport has many small shops and delicious restaurants to explore. Grab a bite at the Salty Dawg Bar & Grill with a view of the Alsea River Bay, or get something savory at Mom's Place. You can crab from the port or clam in the bay at low tide, or launch a boat to explore the bay and river. For those interested in the town's history, the Waldport Heritage Museum is worth a visit. Vacationers who like a more laid-back environment but still want to visit famous attractions (like the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Rogue Brewery, for instance), will love staying in Waldport, which is just half an hour south of the busier, more touristy harbor of Newport. Plenty of restaurants, pubs, cafes, and shopping can be found there and in Yachats, 20 minutes south. Drive south a short distance to Governor Patterson Memorial State Recreation Site, or drive five miles north to Seal Rock. If you have kids with you, a 14-mile drive to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport makes for a great day trip.
