Where you’ll be

Waynesville, North Carolina, United States

Secluded but close to Hwy 40 make this home easily accessible. You have the quaint downtown of Waynesville, the fun of Maggie Valley or the hiking in the Smokies. You can find Gluten-free restaurants listed in a link in the house book. Tons of trails! Go horseback riding and visit the hot springs. Tour the distillery in Maggie, enjoy the brewery downtown Waynesville along with many quaint restaurants with nice wine lists. Be sure to visit the Biltmore. Enjoy thrift and antique shopping closer to home. Waynesville is nestled between the Blue Ridge and the Great Smoky Mountains, 30 miles west of Asheville. The 469-mile Blue Ridge Parkway, one of the country’s most popular scenic drives, meanders through mountain valleys and loops around Waynesville en route to Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park. The picturesque thoroughfare branches out to more than 100 hiking trails, ranging from short footpaths to the Appalachian Trail, which stretches from Georgia to Maine.
Waynesville is a charming, old-fashioned town, with a Main Street lined with pretty trees and brick sidewalks. There are also many quaint storefronts, including a general store, a candy store, and antique shops housed in old buildings. But anyone visiting Waynesville should also spend at least a day exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park covers cascading waterfalls, more than 1,500 types of wildflowers, and dozens of historical mills and barns. While you’re exploring, keep an eye out for elk, black-bear cubs, eastern box turtles, and white-tailed deer.
The area is great for motorcycles and biking, Casino Gambling, and many activities year-round. Our cozy cabin is close to the Cataloochee Ski Area and to various breathtaking trails that are 15 to 25 minutes away including The Appalachian Trail, and those located in Harmon Den, Big Creek Campground, and the Cataloochee Valley, in addition to all of the local trails. After whitewater rafting, you could take a swim at Midnight Hole. The options are endless when it comes to outdoor activities. A couple of great phone apps are "ALL TRAILS" and "DH" (Discover Haywood County) Asheville is a definite please to see and they have an app "DIG LOCAL"
