great stay at this condo in Chicago. The pic's are good and tru to place. We went to visit my daughter at DePaul University and it was a perfect location. Her plac was clean and very comfortable. Directions for getting keys were very simple and clear. I would definately reccomend & stay here again. Thanks Red !
this apartment was in a great location on a quiet tree lined street a block away from a playground and a block away from the subway. the bedroom has no window, so there is no natural light. also i don't think the owners are in chicago, so it is hard to communicate with them. overall it was not our best experience, but it was not the worst.
The place is comfortable and in a really convenient part of Lincoln Park. You're very near DePaul University and also the Fullerton Red Line stop so you can get anywhere. A grocery and Starbucks nearby, which was important for us. The apartment was on the lowest floor of a big building. It was clean. We would have liked to have had more toiletries, but that may have just been an anomaly. The kitchen did have everything we needed. The bed does creak, but imagine you could fix that with a little handy man work. Overall, it was a good experience. I only talked to Shannon on the phone, but she seemed nice.
Loved the location and the apartment was perfect for exactly what I needed. Furnished with all of the necessities as well. Shannon was WONDERFUL and I wish she had something open long term so I could rent long term =). I would definetly reccommend this apartment or any other apartment she has up for rent also. Enjoyed my stay.
Heating was not working. It was impossible to contact "the manager" for three days. When he finally appeared he said he could do nothing. Shannon offered to move us to another apartment. I said yes! and she never ever replied back. The average temperature in Chicago was ~5 °C -wind -basement apartment. We were there with our two children 2 and 5 years old. We did not have a cell phone but checked the e-mails constantly; contacting us was not really difficult. One of the e-mails Shannon never replied is copied below.
We waited for the whole morning and we are going out now. We came on Sunday at 2am to a freezing apartment. It’s Wednesday and we haven’t been able to get any help. Joe is definitely not upstairs. I met your brother by chance yesterday and he changed the setting in the heating. It is probably one of the options I have tried –I must have tried every possibility by this time- and it is still not working. I am not asking for a luxurious service, just a comfortable temperature. I appreciate your offer to switch to another apartment and think it is what we should do. How should we proceed? Shall we take the key from the safety box and leave this one there? We will be back this evening and check for you e-mail.
I had a wonderful experience at Shan's place. As stated in many of the reviews already, the apartment is clean, modern, comfortable and so close to the "L" and bus stops. The apartment is just north of Depaul University. A very attractive and safe neighborhood with lots of character. I was surprised at how quiet it was there. I was able to rest very comfortabley. I hope to return some day. Thanks Shan!
Terrific location with the L and buses within a block. The apartment was a little small but much nicer and bigger than a hotel room. Also clean and homey. Great mattress and super soft sheets. The managers were friendly and provided guide books and a map of local places. So many restaurants and shops were in walking distance. I checked out Lincoln Avenue and had a great breakfast at John's Place on Webster. Overall excellent experience.
Shannon is awesome! She helped me out with last minute changes to my reservation and is very accommodating. Her apartments are very clean and comfortable. The building is near the Fullerton Red Line stop, making it easy to get around the city (even in winter!). Thanks Shannon!
No sheets, blankets or towels. The place was not charming or what I would consider "living it up in Lincoln Park.." It was clean, but there are much better deals out there for the money.
Sarah booked the smaller Charming Brownstone unit not the Living It Up unit
(Airbnb has verified this) she reviewed. She booked for 2 people. She
arrived very late at night so keys were left out for her. She had 3
additional people in her party that she did not register or pay for.
Despite this, when she called me the next morning, we tried to accommodate
her extra friends, providing a futon, additional sheets, pillows and
towels--all done within minutes of her call and without charging her extra
despite the clear abuse of the Airbnb system. She then skipped out without
paying the advertised cleaning fee. Had she booked at a hotel or other more
expensive option, and tried to sneak in 3 extra people, I doubt she would
have been any happier.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
