In the early 20th century, this very building was connected to one of the town’s most beloved local gathering spots: The Hickey Brothers Bar & Cafe. Painted high on the brick façade, their sign read like a beacon to travelers and locals alike — a place to get a good meal, an honest drink, and a warm welcome after a day on Kentucky’s rolling countryside.
At that time, Georgetown was thriving. The town’s growth was rooted in Royal Spring, the abundant water source that drew settlers as early as the 1770s and later became associated with the very beginnings of Kentucky bourbon.
