Hi!
Do you need to refresh, get a good nights sleep, enjoy some old records before bed, or use the kitchen or maybe wash a load of clothes? This is the place.
Two large dogs, who shed, play, love people (that's YOU!) and who do talk loudly and frequently, live with me. Dogs aren't everyone's thing, so if you or your travel companion fall in this category, this isn't the overnight you are looking for. Harry and Ramsey are part of the experience
See “Hemingway’s Room” if this room is booked.
The space
The north facing bedroom with a FULL-SIZE, comfortable bed (two super large people will not be in comfortable in this be size), 4 pillows, more blankets in closet. Ironing board and iron in the closet.
The shared bathroom is for guests - everything in it is you to use. There are multiple body washes and shampoos, cotton balls, band-aids, toothpaste, beard grooming, alcohol, moisturizer, etc. There is a hair dryer available and a First Aid Kit under the sink. Towels are located in each guest bedroom.
Commercial Grade Fire Extinguisher is hanging in the hallway just outside the bathroom door.
A washer and dryer is in the garage, stocked with detergent and dryer sheets.
There is complimentary high speed wifi with password in the picture frame. Emergency numbers also in the frame.
Each room has board games. Your room has books available to travel with you - and records to listen to while you are here.
There is an extended plug in bedroom for charging under the bedside table.
There is a Roku TV available with a paid Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu streaming and or free Peacock available in the living room. You can also log on to any other subscriptions you may have.
I make a mean cup of coffee (or tea) in the morning.
Guest access
Check-in is 4pm or as late as you need. If you are arriving after 9pm - please let me know. I may go to my room and you can let yourself in. The dogs will be with me.
Do you required something earlier? We can discuss this.
Dropping off luggage early is also possible. (Just don't expect the room to be ready before 4pm.)
I always appreciate knowing an estimated time of arrival. Mostly so I know where to put the dogs if I have to be somewhere else.
Check out is a firm 11am.
If the Red Toyota RAV4 is in the driveway...
Ring the doorbell or assume I will hear the dogs barking to let me know company has arrived. They are your welcoming committee. They are a WIP and I ask them to get and stay in their "spots" to meet you. If the come towards you and essentially overwhelm you with happiness - turn you back on them while I make them behave. When they get on their respective chairs (In their spots) then please come meet them. Pet them and shake their hands.
If the Red Toyota RAV4 is NOT in the driveway...
I'll leave the dogs locked up in my bedroom and/or outside and you can enter the front door with the key code I'll send by text. If they are outside in the back, you are welcome to meet them but be prepared for licks and kisses and excitement. Most times I will leave them in my bedroom. Please ignore them until I get home. Tell them to "Be quiet".
You are welcome to make yourself at home, use the main rooms as well as a covered back porch with table and chairs, assuming the temperature is pleasant enough to be outside.
During your stay
I live in the home. I will not impose on your time. If you have read any of my reviews you already know I am a resource. We can visit over a cup of coffee or tea, as you prefer, and discuss travel plans for the area or you can get an overview of the house and retreat to your rented space.
You may wish to make day trips and then travel back to the house for rest. There are many things within 100 miles of Roswell: Carlsbad Caverns National Park, White Sands National Park, Sunspot Astronomy & Visitor Center, Cloudcroft, Jornada del Muerto Volcano, Ruidoso, National Museum of Space History, Smokey the Bear Historical Park, Billy the Kid Museum, Lincoln.
Or stay in the area because Roswell has many varied things to offer travelers: The UFO International Museum, The Anderson Contemporary Museum of Art (AMOCA), and the Roswell Museum and Art Center and Planetarium (RMAC), containing a variety of world class exhibits along with Bitterlakes National Wildlife Refuges and Bottomless Lakes State Park.
Other things to note
I had COVID-19. In February 2021. I had both Pfizer vaccination shots in May 2021 and a booster shot in December 2021. I also had a Moderna booster in July 2022.
When I'm in large crowds I wear a mask, but I have relaxed at home with wearing one. I am still disinfecting as per Airbnb instructions, and have masks and hand sanitizer on hand should we feel more comfortable with us both using them.
This to say, I would PREFER guests who are vaccinated or recovered from Covid19 to have had your vaccines. If you have not had either we will have to negotiate a suitable arrangement.
I promised my son I would not accept reservations from anyone without either 5 previous positive reviews or they must have verify their identity with a government ID. It’s a harmless process, I never see it, as you never see mine, but it does add security for both us. If you are unwilling to do this I understand, but I'm unwilling to have you stay here.
Park in the driveway if you’re the first guest here, on the left side. Also - three cars CAN fit in the drive if we all park conservatively! I generally like to park on the right side. Otherwise please park along the street in front of my house facing west. It is the law in New Mexico cars are supposed to park in the direction of travel.
I have art through-out my home. Some I have made, some are my maternal grandfather’s watercolors and some is from the Artist’s in Residence Program here in Roswell from when they have Open Studio sales as they pack up to leave. I hope you enjoy it. I also have a studio in my garage. Yes, there is a shelf or two which occasionally contains completed work’s available for sale at studio prices.
Special Event pricing applies to my listing for high demand week-ends such as: Hike It Spike It Annual Flag Football event, UFO International Festival Annual Event, NMMI Parents Weekend, NMMI Graduation, NMMI Home Coming, Eastern New Mexico State Fair, Roswell JAZZ Festival in October, Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years.

From the host
The neighborhood was established during the 1960's, and is a brick ranch style housing. This house has been updated with modern conveniences.
There are many young children in the neighborhood and there is a monitored school zone on Garden Avenue.
We are located only 5 minutes from a Starbucks (SE corner of College and Main), or a little further down on Main between 3rd and 4th is a local Coffee House: Stellar Coffee, many fine dining establishments, as well as New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI).
The neighborhood is quiet, usually after ten at night.
Some nights there are train whistles in the early morning hours passing north to south on the east side of town.

No more hosting. :-( Life is too busy. And the complaints from people who don't read & expected a 5-Star hotel at someone's home with dogs (when I opened it up for community), along w/ hassle of Airbnb Spprt... no longer a good vibe! But let me say I cherish and love all my past guests who I still follow on IG. If you come to Roswell... the Harry room is open for friends at no charge - along w/ a full time Pakistani Dr. Peace & Love. Sarah
