About this listing
Cool, calm, city centre home in popular, central Camden/Portobello. Sleeps 6 people comfortably, 4/5 in the bedrooms, 7 with mattress. Also perfect for 1 or a couple. Open fireplace. Large deck out back. Wide range of citywide recommendations given.
This is a comfortable, spacious and very funky, late Georgian house with most original features and an updated large bathroom and back garden.
Sleeping space: 2 bedrooms with a total of 2 double beds + 1 single bed and a good sized living room that sleeps 1 or a couple.
The kitchen is the social hub of the house.
Overall, there's plenty of space for 6 people.
This is a 2 story house with steps up to the hall door.
Guests have sole access to the house including bedrooms, bathroom, toilet, kitchen, living room and back garden.
The house is 5-15mins walking distance from all the main shopping areas, best restaurants and most museums. I work in the hospitality and entertainment industry and have a good insight into some of Dublin's best kept secrets.
Interaction with Guests
I will meet you on arrival to hand over keys, then the house is entirely yours! I will respect your privacy 100% but I can supply extensive recommendations for a variety of activities in the Dublin area and around the country should you need them. Call me for other on-the-spot recommendations and I will normally answer or reply within an hour.
See my guidebook and map at the bottom of the listing for a sample of my recommendations.
The house is situated at the edge of the bohemian Camden Street, Wexford Street and Portobello area but is also considered as 'South Inner City' where most of the Dublin nightlife is. Synge Street is less than 10 minutes walking distance from Dublin's main shopping and restaurant district surrounding Grafton Street.
Although only one block from the main street, Synge Street is surprisingly tranquil day and night.
Our neighbourhood is very central but offers an alternative to the regular Dublin tourist traps even though Temple Bar is a mere 12 minute walk away.
Dublin is a walking city and this house is very centrally located, but we are also 3 minutes away from bus stops bringing you directly to the airport and other city areas. The Luas light rail service is also nearby and 'Dublinbikes' are available to rent right around the corner 24/7.
Other Things to Note
• The south inner city is the true city centre where all the best shopping, cultural activity and nightlife is. Visitors are often disappointed when they stay in the north inner city and discover the O'Connell street area is NOT the the focus of Dublin urban activity and has very little street life at night.
• See my guide book at the top righthand corner of the listing for a sample of my recommendations.
• Why not stay longer and use the house as a base for your complete Irish visit? Ireland is small and I can recommend several day trips from Dublin all around the country.
• Parking permits are available from me for street parking in front of the house at a cost of €1.25 per day.
• Please make sure to lock the front door when going out.
All we can say is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC FROM START TO FINISH. Lex was amazingly helpful from the word go - we bombarded him with questions and he was always quick to reply with something happy and helpful. The house is beyond amazing - it is beautifully decorated and homely. There was ample space for us all and Lex had even stocked the fridge with a few goodies ready for our arrival. We can't recommend this place enough - we were devastated to have to leave and could have stayed on without hesitation. We would love to return to Dublin and would definitely choose Lex's place for a second time. Without a doubt the best Airbnb property we have ever experienced. Lex - thank you!
Fabulous place, great neighborhood and a friendly, informative, easy going host. Thanks for the welcoming provisions which were appreciated after flying all night with little ones. This is the place to stay in Dublin!
Lex's place is just about the coolest gaff around! Think Georgian period home, with very cool 70's retro décor & ambiance.
From the moment of arrival Lex had the place well prepared to welcome weary guests...scented candles, retro radio station with great tunes, eggs, bread, chocolates & prosecco all in the fridge!
Décor is cool, house is cosy, back yard decked area is great for drinks & chat before heading out.
Location: perfect quiet street right next to Camden area with bars few cool boutique stores & restaurants....10 mins walk to Grafton street.
Perfect stay...we will be back!
Don't miss your oppourtunity....
Kate, Alex, Louise & Feargal!
lex's apartment was better than ever. Noticed some nice new things around the house. Always a unique experience and in the best spot in Dublin. Thanks again lex
My family and I had a lovely time at Lex's house! We arrived late our first evening, almost midnight, and Lex was there to greet us into a warmly-lit home complete with welcome-package of wine, cheese and snacks. The six of us were comfortable in the space available and especially enjoyed the outdoor terrace and sunny kitchen. The house is ideally located for Dublin-exploring and Lex's extensive guidebook is a huge plus. Skip the hotel and stay here!
We had a wonderful time staying at Lex's place while we were in Dublin! The flat was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped. It feels lived in, with many interesting decorations, which worked for us. Lex even left us a 'welcome' treat of local cheese, bread, and bubbly when we arrived! The location was great with lots of unique and tasty local restaurants nearby and it was within walking distance (15-20 min) of many major attractions in the city. We would definitely stay here again and wish we could have stayed longer!
Lex was very helpful and responsive to questions before we arrived. He provided excellent recommendations for activities and restaurants. We were met, on time, by Lex in his lovely home. The home was as described and pictured. He takes great care in making his home welcome to travelers, providing fresh bread and cheese, nice linens, and fresh flowers. The location is great, quiet area but around the corner from pubs, restaurants and main streets. Trinity and the city center are a 15 minute walk. Highly recommend.
