  • Wow. Words cannot describe how beautiful this Cabana is. Every little detail has been hand-picked and hand-built by the host. Gorgeous outdoor kitchen and dining area that are fully equipped with a fridge, stove, grill etc. Beautifully decorated living room - romantic bedroom with an amazing shower that opens out onto the pond area. Conveniently located just a few mins from Buye beach, and about 25 mins to Sucia beach and the lighthouse. We LOVED it here. I would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone travelling to that area of Puerto Rico -- heck I would recommend you go to Cabo Rojo just to stay in this place! Don't even think twice -- just book it.

  • It was my second stay, and again, I love the cabana! Michael has made it a truly unique environment (think "jungle-rustic" meets "pirate-cove" in all the best ways), and his wife completes the package with her kindness. Both are friendly and available for help, but not intrusive. The place is interesting, comfortable, clean, 10 minutes to the beach, 5 minutes to a convenience store, and blessedly hidden away from the greater Cabo Rojo metropolitan area : ) I recommend to anyone looking to stay off the beaten path.

  • We had so much fun staying at the Villa Vista Puerto. Michael hand-built the whole thing, and it's obvious how much time, energy and love went into it. There are so many details to discover in every corner — it's truly a unique escape. It's more spacious that it appears in the photos, plenty of room for 2 people. We loved the open air hot shower that faces the garden and the outdoor kitchen.

Michael was a very responsive host, even before we arrived. He guided us on how to get to the house, gave us a detailed tour of the house, and provided great recommendations on local spots. His dog Blanca came by to greet us a couple times when we returned from our adventures, but other than that, we were left to ourselves — though if we needed anything, he was just a phone call away.

I'll echo what others have said — this isn't a place for someone who is skittish around insects, lizards and other small creatures. It's an open air cabana in the thick of lush greenery, so there are bound to be a few spiders, frogs and bugs that find their way in. It didn't bother us at all, but it's important that you know what you're signing up for. And for an open house, it's remarkably clean.

I would definitely recommend staying here! It's a great launch point from which to explore Puerto Rico, and close to some of the most beautiful beaches on the island.

  • Michael's cabana is a beautiful, rustic oasis in Puerto Rico. Every corner of the cabana (both inside and outside) is thoughtfully decorated, and much of it Michael has built by hand! The star of the cabana is the outdoor kitchen, complete with a large round table and hand-crafted chairs. Our favorite part of the kitchen was the "plancha", a flat metal slate on an industrial burner- perfect for roasting shrimp or vegetables. Michael and his wife were very accommodating hosts and made sure we were well cared for during our stay. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind outdoor/indoor living experience in Puerto Rico, this is your place.

  • Michael's place was a mini-wonderland of open air coziness, island and historical artifacts and natural and human-made conversation pieces. We enjoyed our stay and thought to book his two spaces with friends for a week would be grand. We appreciated the short time we had there. The full window private shower was awesome, the outdoor kitchen well equipped and the living room and bedroom roomy and cozy at the same time. Michael was both helpful and gave us plenty of space and we learned things from each other - which is always a bonus.

  • We enjoyed our stay in what we thought of as the big tree-house on the ground. The outdoor kitchen and dining area was our favorite place to hang out. It was like being part of Swiss Family Robinson. Highly recommended!

  • Michael and his lady were great hosts! From the first night they made us feel very welcome, and were always available to help if needed, but gave us the right amount of privacy as well. The villa was nice and rustic, yet didn't feel as though it was missing any amenities. We really were able to getaway and relax, and for the price we paid we had a nice, landscaped grounds (complete with fish pond) all to ourselves. The outdoor kitchen/living area with hammock was beautifully lit at night and provided a great spot to hangout. It's a truly unique experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a quiet retreat.

  • We stayed at Villa Vista for two nights and it was unbelievable! Michael greeted us with a smile and a great tour of the place. The Villa was beautiful, perfectly designed--nestled in a rainforest feel garden with tall trees and small ponds. We took advantage of our own personal outdoor kitchen that was accommodating with all pots and pans.

The living room was like a gazebo that could be opened to the outdoors via huge windows. There were two great pull out couches in the living room and a bar that opened up with barstools. The bedroom was a great size and included an AC unit that we didn't need to use since the weather was incredible. The shower which was basically outdoors was fantastic and Michael had put a lot of work into making sure there was proper hot water and the best smelling towels you'll ever experience!

We could not speak higher of our experience here. It was private and beautiful. We drive to Rincon from here to do a sunset cruise, incredible. And we spent the day at Playa Sucia, which is highly recommended during your stay.

Stay here---you will not regret it!
