The space
Note: In the listing text is a mystery question that I will need you to answer. I've had too many people rent, without having fully read the listing, so, to be sure, please answer the question, when you book. Thanks!

This timber frame home was constructed using entire trees, harvested from the property, they stand, like totem poles, visually joining the surrounding woods. The south-facing, wall of glass window blurs the boundary between inside and out. It's like living inside the Nature Channel, in a reverse snow globe, surrounded by weather, but cozy, inside.
Two stone fireplaces flank the main space, (NOTE: I don't allow guests to use the fireplaces, or open flame, in the house, when I'm not there.). Wide pine and oak floors made from timber from the property and milled just up the road. There is a separate food prep space contained in the upper "Sky Room" and on the main floor, a large full "cooks" kitchen, with a double oven, etc., available for guest use. FYI: We live in the house, sometimes, so the refrigerator may have the look and feel of an "in use" frig. But, there will be plenty of space for your food. You will find evidence of our lives, in the house, (burning material in the in the fireplace, my daughters work table, with her projects, shoes in the entry, etc.).
The house is "funky" and "arty", with collections of curious objects, masks, sculptures, etc., arranged in groups, around the space, on tables, shelves, etc.. If you are uncomfortable with this, please do not rent. The house is in the woods and we do not lock the front door. Life is relaxed, here.
As the house is heated partially with wood, in winter, though it is swept, vacuumed, moped and cleaned, frequently, you will find dust, in the house. If this alarms you, please, don't rent.
If you do rent, i will assume that you and your party have read the listing, seen the photos, and are good with a wood-heated (somewhat dusty) log chalet, in the woods, and will enjoy it!

COVID Note:
Due to the extra cleaning needed, to be sure that the space is safe for the next guest, please be sure that all of your personal messes are entirely cleaned up, when you leave, to allow time for the extra COVID cleaning. Thank you!

Bedrooms:
• The Sky Suite is the upper floor of the house, a private room (10' x 30' with 14' ceiling (at its highest point.) with it's own bath, loft and deck (with view: open in winter, leafy in full spring/summer)
• The Sky Suite has an additional Full-size bed on the loft, not within the room, itself.
• The Red Room is on the main floor with its own claw-foot tub, sink and toilet in room. It boasts a very comfy queen-size 4-poster bed, leather armchair and small closet. (Note: the tub facet water has a drip, and i haven't been able to find the specialty washer, to stop the drip. So, please reach behind the tub to turn on the water shut off, to get the water to flow.)
• Additional Bed: The Fireplace Bed.
This is a full-size bed is beside the fireplace, on the main floor, sequestered in the SouthEast corner, surrounded on two sides by floor to ceiling windows. While it somewhat open to the main floor, it is a fantastic space for sleeping, in full view of the dawn.
• The hot tub is available for an additional fee of $50 (fee one time per booking) (Please request use of the hot tub, in advance, so I can prepare it for you).
• The Finnish steam sauna is available for an additional fee of $35 (fee one time per booking)(Please request use of the hot tub, in advance, so I can prepare it for you).
• The toilet is a septic system: only human waste and toilet paper go into it. Other materials can damage the system and cost thousands of dollars to repair. Please, be thoughtful with the septic system!
• Internet: 8 down/2.2 up (hardwired), 6 down/1.2 up (wifi) (speeds can vary).

Privacy
Note: The Sky Room itself is private, with bed, table and chairs, lounge area, etc.. The loft area is semi-private, open to the main body of the house. There are folding screens to create privacy, but it is open to the ambiance, sounds, etc. of the main floor, below. Again, the loft is open to the house, semi-private , which really needs to work for you. Please consider this, before renting. Thanks!

Guest access
Guests can come and go, as they wish, once checked in.
Check in time: 5pm or later, unless arranged.
Check out time: 10am, unless arranged.

Some personal rooms will be closed off, in the house. Please do not enter the personal spaces listed here: small bedroom off the fireroom (behind curtains and sliding doors), a work room behind the kitchen.

Other things to note
• The loft is "semi-private", please, look at the pictures to see how the space sits above the "great room" of the home.
• The toilet is a septic system: only human waste and toilet paper go into it. Other materials can damage the system and cost thousands of dollars to repair. Please, be thoughtful with the septic system!
• The Sky Suite (room and loft) are accessed by a spiral staircase (2' wide) from the main floor of the house up to the Sky Suite. Be aware that you may need to duck your head to avoid banging it! (Watch your head!)
• The loft does not have a railing. I've taken measures to protect you, but you'll need to be aware and keep yourself safe!
• Stairs: There are approximately 5 stone steps, from parking area into the house and another 8 steps from the entry, onto the main floor of the house.
• Hot tub available, ($50 fee). (Please request use of the hot tub, in advance, so I can prepare it for you)
By agreeing to use the hot tub, guests take full responsibility for themselves and their well-being, while using it and at the house.
• Finnish style, steam sauna available. Seats 2 people. Ladle water onto hot rocks to bathe in invigorating steam. Great after skiing, hiking, or just because! ($35 fee) (Please request use of the sauna, in advance, so I can prepare it for you). Rules for safe use will be posted and must be followed.
By agreeing to use the sauna, guests take full responsibility for themselves and their well-being, while using it and at the house.
• Claw Foot Tub for Rental Space on Loft
The Sky Suite includes a dynamite, two-sided, 6 ft claw foot tub. The tub is on rental suite loft, not in an enclosed room, in view of the huge picture window face of the house, but tucked behind surrounding folding screens to create the level of privacy that you desire.
• Small Food Prep Room in Sky Suite
A microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator are in the Sky Suite (upstairs), for your use.
• The entry (mud room), downstairs bathroom, kitchen lights, carport, and a couple other bits of the house are still in construction. This doesn't affect the rental suite, but you may notice it when you are here.
• No smoking of anything, in the house.
• No heavy perfume use, please. Others might not have the same enjoyment of your scent choice.
• Heat will be via a pellet stove that is in the basement and space heaters, throughout the house, as needed.
• Lights: Please turn off lights, when you are not using them, and especially, when you leave.
• The cleaning fee covers the normal washing of sheets, covers, towels, sweeping and vacuuming. An extra fee will be assessed for cleaning up extra messes, washing your dishes, repairing damage, etc.

Location

Fairlee, Vermont, United States

The neighborhood is very rural. This house is in the woods and other homes are only visible from the edge of the deck, or through the woods. None the less, we have a variety of great restaurants in the area and Hanover, NH is right down the road (17 minutes) where concerts, movies, dance performances, etc. are usually available.

WINTER SPORT
A ski slope (the Dartmouth Skiway, visible out the front window) is about 15 minutes away and has two chair lifts, and bunny slope, lodge, rental center and very reasonable rates. Two larger ski areas are each 60 miles from the house: Okemo and Stowe, both outstanding options.
Cross country skiing is readily available near the house. The Lake Morey Resort golf course (1 mile away) is an excellent choice.

WARM WEATHER SPORT
Lake Morey is a large (600 acre) lake, a mile away and is great for swimming, boating, and maintains an fantastic ice skating track in winter. The Lake Morey Resort (at Lake Morey) has an 18 hole golf course (par 70), club house, bar, spa and special events.
River swimming holes abound, nearby, I'll leave a listing in the house. They are perfection. Really.
There are many local farms in the area that produce local foods, cheeses, meats, maple syrup and more. A listing of great visits will be available to guests.
Hiking trails are available all around the local area. For a bigger climb, the White Mountains are about an hour and a half away, providing excellent mountain hiking / climbing and more.

Hi, I'm Harrison, a superhost, with airbnb, who loves to travel.
During your stay
I may or may not need to visit on the property, while your are staying, but will not come into the house, at all, unless requested. For example, I may need to water plants, on the deck (in the warm months), manage the pellet stove, in the basement (in winter), etc.
If I need to visit, I will write to you, in advance, to let you know.
