Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Sway in an indoor hammock in a wide open, light-filled space. This period adobe was originally the dance studio of renowned flamenco artist, Maria Benitez. Today it's been reimagined as a semi-rustic, romantic getaway in a private park-like setting.

The space
Built in the 1950's as a dance studio, this large (860 square foot) open plan stand studio house still has it's original oak flooring and rough hewn vigas (beams). It has a rustic southwestern feel without the cliche: a mix of antique, mid-century and contemporary features. There are large new windows and skylights which provide an abundance of natural light and a lovely view of the large trees your own private 1/4 acre property. Casita Benitez feels romantic, whimsical, cozy, bohemian, and a retreat like getaway as well as a fabulous place to unwind. It is also an excellent home base for exploring Taos and surrounding areas.

The kingsize bed is dressed with premium organic bedding and very comfortable. The living area has a cozy sofa, chairs and hammock for the ultimate relaxing. The kitchen area has a full size refrigerator, gas oven/stove, all the necessary dish-ware, cook-ware, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, and microwave. The dining table seats 4. The bathroom has a brand new clawfoot tub with shower. There is a large covered porch with views of the big silver poplar trees as well as a enclosed porch with bistro. There is high speed WIFI, Cable TV, and Netflix. For those that need to work there is also is a desk and chair.

Although the Casita is large and spacious there are no walls so if you are planning on having more then two guests just be aware there is not much privacy for 3. The sofa is not a pull out but comfortable enough to sleep 1 under 6ft tall. I also can provide a single fold out mattress so please indicate in advance if you plan on having a 3rd guest and I will set aside the proper provisions.

Guest access
The door is on a keypad with a code that resets for each guest. The Casita is a private free standing house with a large private yard and fence set away from main house. It has its own driveway, carport, covered patio and enclosed additional patio. Guests have the use of the large open yard area in the back half of the property.

Other things to note
*Winters can bring lots of snow to Northern New Mexico so please be prepared with an adequate vehicle and clothing:) We do not plow the driveway when these storms come in but its a pretty flat and easy driveway to navigate through when there is snow. *The altitude and dry weather can also cause dehydration so please stay hydrated as much as possible, limit alcohol consumption and take it easy your first day to acclimate and to avoid altitude sickness. *The shower is in the clawfoot tub so if you think you may have trouble getting in and out this may not be the place for you. *There are horses and occasionally other animals next door. *If you are looking to book something within town and walking distance to the plaza just a heads up we are two miles from the plaza so to walk there it takes about 30 min to drive takes 4 min and to bike takes 15min. In my opinion I prefer the location due to the space, lush park like setting and proximity to some of the best hiking and biking trails in Taos.

My work: Real Estate Agent/Art Department/ Photograper
Having spent an earlier portion of my life traveling I believe in the art of hospitality. Airbnb has really elevated the art of traveling by giving you an intimate experience that makes you feel like you are at home but emerged in a new local culture and I love that. Formally being a set stylist and a photographer I love to curate and build beautiful spaces and share with others. Currently I’m working on my real estate license and spend most of my free time hiking, foraging mushrooms, making art, exploring, meditating, traveling, road tripping, skiing or just drinking tea cozy at home. I have been deeply touched by Taos and feel not only honored to call this magical place home but excited to be able to share the magic of this place with others. Taos is an enchanting artistic sanctuary, with magnificent nature to endlessly explore , a down to earth vibe and authentic energy.
