We spent one night in Carmel's house on April, we were 9 french people. She brings us from the train station to her house it was so nice! Then she shows us her house and the house is huge, well-decorated, clean, and the bedrooms are amazing! The 6 bedrooms are all with an independent bathrooms and there are really big. Carmel's house to conclude is perfect for a staying with friends or with family because there is plenty of space and the house and the garden are lovely. Thanks Carmel for your kindness and for the great welcome, I recommend the house for anyone who want to spend a nice week end on the country side or holidays in a peaceful area. Furthermore, the house is at only 1h of train from Dublin city center and then only 10minutes of car from the train station so even if it's in the countryside, it's really accessible.
Thank you again Carmel,
We had a fantastic night staying at Carmel's house while we attended a Downton Abbey themed evening nearby in Mullingar town. The house is really big. There were 13 of us and we had plenty of space! Each of the six bedrooms even has its own ensuite too, so all 13 of us could get ready to go out without any queuing for showers!
The beds were also very comfortable and the bedclothes felt luxurious and cosy. We also loved the little touches about the place, such as the toffees left on the beds, the bottles of water in the bedrooms and the toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower gels, make up pads and bathrobes etc. supplied in the bathrooms. Towels were also provided.
The setting of the house is also beautiful. It's only 10-15 minutes from Mullingar, but completely peaceful and surrounded by lovely countryside. If we'd a bit more time we would have said hello to the farm animals next door too!
Finally, Carmel is a superb hostess. She is so keen to help make your stay as good as it can be and she was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend her house to anyone and I will certainly stay here again if I find myself in the area in the future.
Carmel was the best host anyone could have. She received us with lots of nice christmas details and even though it was christmas she made everything to make our stay special and unique. She showed the animals to our little ones and made it a great fun moment out of it.
We were a group of four women that stayed in Carmel's beautiful home. We were greeted with a huge warm and welcoming. Carmel is awesome. She is so friendly and accommodating. The bedrooms are large and each has its own bathroom. For four women that's an A+! The house was clean. The atmosphere was pleasant. There isn't anything bad I can say about our stay at Carmel's. It was a wonderful stay! Wish we could have stayed longer than one night. I highly recommend to anyone that plans to stay in the Mullingar area.
We had a FANTASTIC time when visiting Carmel at Conkill House !!
Our initial plans where to visit the former home of Niall Horan (from One Direction) in Mullingar – on request from our 13-year-old daughter ☺
But meeting Carmel and staying in her wonderful Bed & Breakfast with gorgeous rooms, great facilities and splendid surroundings became the memory I will cherish in the future.
Carmel was a SUPERB host for my family and me. When having some GPS troubles finding Clonkill House, Carmel drove down to meet us in Mullingar – all dressed up –since it was the evening before a banking holiday and she was going out. Carmel took time to give us a thorough introduction to the house and facilities – and she had prepared great rooms for us.
Furthermore Carmel left us a nice handwritten welcome letter with recommendations to restaurants and places to see in and around Mullingar.
Next morning Carmel gave us all a tour around the property to see her animals. Our kids got to feed the horses, the hens and pet the dogs.
My only regret was that we only stayed for one day ☺
We can definitely RECOMMEND staying at Carmel and enjoying the kind atmosphere and sights in the area. Be sure to plan for more than one night!
We have just returned from a great weekend at Carmels wonderful home. We had 6 adults and 3 kids staying and had ample room for everyone! All the bedrooms were very clean and all had a separate ensuite with a shower which was lovely! Carmel had fresh towels on the bed and a sweet on the pillow which we thought was a lovely touch! from the moment we entered the gates to Carmels we were made feel at home. we all had a wonderful time and are already planning our next stay :)
