The space
One of three mountain cottages located at the Natural Park of Ribeiro Frio, Azalia is surrounded by forest and is well placed in the mountains of Santana.
Due to its privileged location, it allows access to several hikes, including the famous Vereda dos Balcões and an incredible experience in the middle of the Laurissilva forest.
When you arrive at the entrance of the property, you will see the cottages on the other side of the valley, and the mountains above them.
Take a moment to breath the fresh air while watching that beautiful landscape before you enter the private road up to the cottages.
In the middle of the road, you will pass a small bridge with a view to the small seasonal brook that feeds Ribeiro Frio, before arriving at the automatic gate that gives you access to the gardens and the parking space.
A small garden on your right along with the small stone path that leads to the picnic area marks the end of the road and beginning of the parking space just above.
Once in the parking space you will see the valley of Ribeiro Frio and the surrounding mountains and forest. A stone path that leads to Azalia starts in front of Cedro cottage, and after passing Cedro's doorway, the common barbecue on your right and the orange tiles of Camélia's roof are revealed.
Almost at the end of the path on your right there is a stairwell that leads to Azalia's patio. Place your luggage on the bench and absorb the moment, the view and the mountain air. It's worth it and you have arrived!
Inside the cottage on your right, you can see the couch, a small table and the wood stove, on your left the kitchen and the dinner table.
The wooden floor is soft and smooth and the light decoration makes it cozy and simple at the same time.
The bedroom door is at the centre and you can see the simple decoration inside. Turn on the soft light which welcomes you to the comfortable beds.
Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the view from the window.

Other things to note
Do not rent a weak car, the island has very steep roads.
The cottage is in a secluded location and the nearest supermarket is 15 minutes away, so purchase some food before heading to the cottage.
You don't need to purchase water unless you need a bottle for hikes.
The cottage is in a mountain, so bring some warm clothes and comfortable shoes with a soft sole for extra grip. Also some walking sticks and a flash-light if you plan to do some hikes.
