Interaction with Guests
We are happy to share our home and hospitality with you. Your room and bath are very private and located in another hallway, away from our own rooms, so you can have all the privacy you like.
We respect your privacy and know you will respect ours. We are retired and it is just the two of us here now (except for the feral cat in the back yard). If you have any special needs, just let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. We look forward to hosting you and appreciate that you have chosen to stay with us.
We are located in the Menlo Oaks neighborhood, between Bay Road and Coleman Avenue. We are in the unincorporated area of Menlo Park--that means centuries-old oak and redwood trees, no sidewalks, privacy, and peace and quiet. Mark Zuckerberg's Company, Stanford University, Sand Hill Road are all just minutes away. We are literally in the heart of Silicon Valley, equidistant from SJC and SFO. Even OAK is close by.
Easy to get around, close to 101, 84, and downtown Menlo Park and Palo Alto; 20 minutes to 280. Good to have a car or bike but, if not, there are city buses to take you where you need to be. If you need a ride somewhere, let us know in advance and we may be able to accommodate you.
Other Things to Note
Do you need a ride to or from the airport? A cab will cost between $85-$125. I'll be happy to drive you for a fee of $30 either way. Just let me know ahead of time.
We can be flexible regarding check-in and check-out times, just let us know ahead of time. Otherwise, we'll greet you after 4pm and bid you adieu by 11am.
We do ask that you refrain from using perfume or aftershave for everyone's comfort.
This is a SMOKE-FREE/PEANUT-FREE/pet-free home (except for the feral cat).

Paula's house is big and beautiful. And our room is comfortable. Paula also prepared breakfast for us. Milk, bread, cake, coffee, grain, etc. We did have a good rest. Thanks Paula.
My stay at Paula's was my first AirBnB experience. As a neat freak and with what have been called OCD tendencies when it comes to my living environment, I was a little apprehensive about what my options would be. The existing reviews for Paula had my expectations high, however, she far exceeded them during my stay. I had such a wonderful time chatting with her -- it was like I had known her for awhile. Paula literally has everything you might need at her house (from food, drinks, detergent, music, iPod docks, toiletries, etc.). I showed up in the evening as planned and wanted to do a load of laundry. Paula oriented me to the washer and dryer and helped me get going. The room and bathroom were very clean, very comfortable, and reminded me a lot like home. The next morning, as mentioned throughout the reviews, Paula had breakfast (with multiple options based on my preferences) awaiting. I definitely would stay at Paula's again!
I can't say enough about the wonderful experience at Paul and Paula's.
Immaculate property and fantastic host! Nice linens and plenty of thoughtful little touches (little travel size toiletries, chocolates on the pillow, homemade muffins, space in the closet for hanging stuff etc.) Even the WiFi password was printed and nicely framed - very classy!
This is what it's like to stay with an AirBnb super host! Felt like a favorite son coming home for the holidays. Can't wait for my next visit!
We had a great stay at Paul and Paula's. Paula is very pleasant (Paul was out of town for the weekend) and helpful, and we had everything we could want during our stay: a lovely bedroom (very comfortable bed) and bathroom, a sitting room to use, great breakfasts and coffee, and access to other food as needed. The house is situated down a nice private drive amidst beautiful trees and on a quiet street. Laundry service is provided, which is tremendous, and I took advantage to have my running clothes washed. We would go back for sure if we are ever in the area again. We visited in conjunction with our daughter's Stanford graduation and the location was very convenient.
We LOVE staying at Paul and Paula's. Every time we stay there, we make note of all of Paula's special touches. She is the epitome of a Super Host! Thank you, Paula for all your care. It is lovely to be so pampered.
What a wonderful evening we had at Paul and Paula's beautiful B & B. The home is in a secluded cul de sac with trees overhead and flowering gardenias at the front door. Not only is the home beautiful but the suite of our room was immaculate. The attention to detail was everywhere from cool water by our bedside to robes and slippers to snacks in the room to fine soaps in the bathroom. The bed is super comfortable too! Paula was a wonderful gracious hostess and we had a sitting room to use if we wanted, coffee and cocoa always available. Breakfast was set out for us with fresh fruit, pastries, coffee, cereal. It was just a treat from beginning to end. We hope to visit again often. I can't recommend highly enough.
We had a great stay. The accommodations exceeded our expectations in comfort and attractiveness. Our hosts had carefully anticipated our every need with notes about the tv, Wi-Fi, breakfast offerings etc.
We were warmly welcomed and made to feel right at home.
The location was quiet and accessible to Menlo Park and nearby locations.
About the Host, Paul & Paula
My husband, Paul, and I are both retired from Silicon Valley careers and now actively enjoy photography, travel, and our two granddaughters who live near by. We were fortunate to have traveled around the world before we retired. Now we choose to vacation in Cabo San Lucas whenever possible. Paul enjoys road trips (we drove to Cabo once) but I prefer flying. My life motto is "Choose Joy" and I believe pigs can (and do) fly--they are all over my home. All time favorite movies are "Harold and Maude" and "Grand Canyon" but I'll go see any movie, anytime. I am a Beatles FANatic. My daughter is a Francophile, hence all the Parisian influence around the house. We aren't fussy and really enjoy and LIVE in our home. Come in, take your shoes off, and get comfy. Feet on the furniture is a good thing. We hope you will visit us again and again!
