Ausadie is a registered local and National Historic property, located in the Medical and Downtown District. Only a few minutes walk to many entertainment venues, museums, galleries, for live theatres, Coe college and many churches in restaurants. The building has been beautifully restored and offers a courtyard with a pool, flower gardens and peaceful Koi pond. Laundry and fully-equipped gym are also included. Our secure building will feel like your home away from home!

The space
The Ausadie building was built in 1923 by Austin Palmer. Palmer was known for the "THE PALMER METHOD OF HANDWRITING". The building has been wonderfully preserved by Richard Cooley and Tim Oberbroeckling, your host. Great care has been given to this building and it has been a labor of love for Richard and Tim. Included in this private apartment has a completely stocked kitchen including all your cookware as well as coffees, teas, hot chocolate, juices and water. The building is a secure building using a security keypad to gain access. Guest we'll have access to all parts of the building including the laundry facility and fitness center.

The neighborhood is a wonderful example of urban living. We are located in the Medical District which makes it great for those coming to Cedar Rapids for medical purposes. Both hospitals and PCI clinics are all between 2 and 5 minute walks. Downtown which offers many activities is only a 10 minute stroll. You can also walk to major attractions like the Grant Wood Studio, Masonic Library Museums, and the Cedar Rapids History Center. All are a mere one minute walk from our location. Across the street you will find Riley's Cafe, known for their great breakfast and lunches. If it's a nightcap you are looking for, Grace Pub is also across the street, serving food and Cocktails. Coe College is a 5-minute walk which makes us a perfect place for visiting parents. Hello, We are co-owners of the Ausadie building. We purchased the building in 1989 and the old girl has been a labor of love for the past 28 years. Guess you could say she owns us, lol. We have completly restored this building and in order to historically protect her, we placed the building on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, and the Local Landmark in to 2015. We are both Cedar Rapid natives. Richard is retired from the Cedar Rapids school system, and Tim has been in the salon industry for the past 37 years and is owner of Timothy Roberts Salon & Spa. We both enjoy traveling, Chicago and Palm Springs being our two favorite destinations. We also enjoy going to many movies, and yes, buttered popcorn is a must! We have added a couple apts. to airbnb so more people can discover and enjoy her rich history. We hope we have the opportunity to share her story with you!
