Located on 30 acres of private land surrounded by National Forest in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, this tiny home is perfectly situated within 30 minutes of the luxury ski resort Vail, CO, and the historic mining town Leadville, CO. This is the best location to see all of what Colorado has to offer. There are 3 separate properties on this 30-acre parcel. This tiny home sits on a hill up above the other properties and has a private patio with spectacular views.
The space
This modern tiny home has two lofts, one with a queen bed and another with a full bed. The queen bed is accessed by a normal rise and run staircase, the full bed is accessed by a wooden ladder. You won't be able to stand in the lofts/bed areas, typical of a tiny home and not really an issue since you really just sit or sleep in the beds up there, but important to note if you have any physical limitations.
On the main level, there is a kitchen with a smaller sized oven and 3 burner stove top, half-sized fridge/freezer, living room with a TV and couch, and quaint dining table with incredible views over the surrounding area. The views from this specific home through the many windows are truly incredible.
Please be reminded there is an uphill driveway of about 500 feet that must be walked. A wagon (sled in winter) is provided to help with luggage and groceries.
Guest access
You will have access to the entire upper tiny home.
Other things to note
We do allow pets, but you must count them as guests. Hence, if it is couple staying with one dog, it should be 3 guests (two humans and one pet). This will incur an additional charge above 2 guests of $25/night/guest which helps us accommodate for the additional cleaning and wear and tear our lovable pets can create. We also ask that your pets be leashed out of respect for the other pets who might be on the property in the other airbnbs.
The toilet in this home is a composting toilet, specifically a Villa 9210, which truly works amazingly, but is different that your normal flushing toilet. Feel free to look it up for more information. You will never have to deal with maintaining the toilet, this will always be completed by the host.
There is about a 100-150 yard walk up a sloped hill from the parking space to get to the home.
Keep in mind that the home is off the grid, so it is important to be cautious of your electricity and water usage as both utilities are capped by our amount of water in the well and electricity in the batteries. During the winter, when surface water is not running and the sun is not hitting the solar panels for long periods of time, it is especially important to be conservative of these utilities.
The water heater is not on demand, so the heater will supply a hot shower for about 10-15 minutes before it needs to reheat itself. 10-15 mins should be plenty for two hot showers, but after that you will need to wait a bit for the water heater to heat back up.
All heat, water and forced air, are supplied via propane so you don't have to worry about running out of heat in the house or anything despite being off grid.
We are pleased to offer Starlink internet service which currently does not have a data cap.
Cell service is weak here, but once connected to WiFi you will be fine.
