Formerly a farm, now a nice place to be with your partner, family or friends. Read by the wood-burning stove, cook in the well-equipped kitchen, stroll around or play on our large grounds and have a good night's sleep on good mattresses. In the immediate vicinity you can make beautiful hiking, cycling or canoeing trips and visit the locally typical fortified churches.

The space
The cottage has one living room/kitchen (25 m2) with a spacious dining table, wood-burning stove, sitting area, television, DVD player and audio equipment (bluetooth, USB). The kitchen is equipped with a 4-burner hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, (bar)mixer and fridge/freezer. On the ground floor there is a hall, a bedroom with a double bed (1.60 x 2m) and a bathroom with washing machine, toilet, bath and separate shower. The attic consists of one room with (low!) beams. The stairwell can be closed with a valve. In the attic there is a large double bed, a single bed and a toddler bed. The private garden with terrace is accessible from the kitchen. A high chair and a campsite bed are provided. The house has as main heating a wood-burning stove and as auxiliary heating an electric heater in the kitchen and bedroom bgg. There is no separate heating in the attic, but it does share in the heat of the wood stove.

We live in the Thiérache, a beautiful and non-touristy region just across the Belgian border, in the foothills of the French Ardennes. The landscape is green and rolling, meadows with hedges alternate with forest. There are many watercourses and a confusion of country roads with small villages that often have a castle church (église fortifiée). From April to October, flea markets (brocantes) are organised on Sundays and public holidays. A little further away, but well worth a visit, are the cathedral in Laon and the Familistère (social palace) in Guise.
