Used to be a farm, now a nice place for vacation, retreat or search for a second home. On the ground floor (40 m2) you will find everything for two people. In the summer, it stays wonderfully cool here, in the winter, the wood-burning stove quickly warms up the living space. There is a private garden, but you also have access to our large nature area (adults only). We live in the Thiérache, a rural, non-tourist region in Northern France where you can enjoy hiking, biking and canoeing.

The space
The cottage has one living room/kitchen (25 m2) with a spacious dining/work table, a wood stove (no central heating!), sitting area, television, DVD player and audio equipment (Bluetooth, USB). Games, books and magazines are provided. The kitchen is very fully equipped, so ideal if you like to cook: 4 burner stove, oven, microwave, toaster, (hand) blender and fridge/freezer. Furthermore, on the ground floor is a bedroom with double bed (1.60 x 2m) and a bathroom with washing machine, toilet, bath and separate shower. In the attic, there is another bed, making it possible to sleep separately. But beware: steep stairs, low beams and unheated. In front of the house is a south-facing large "cour" and behind the house a sheltered garden. The house is heated with a wood stove and an electric stove in the bathroom and bedroom.

Guest access
You have access to our entire property (3 ha= 6 soccer fields). You can use a jeu de boules court, volleyball court, ping pong table, little library and quiet hut with views of Belgium.

Neighborhood highlights

We live in the Thiérache, a beautiful and not touristy region just across the Belgian border, in the foothills of the French Ardennes. The scenery is green and sloping, meadows with hedges are interspersed with forest. There are many watercourses and a tangle on country lanes with small villages that often have a castle church (église fortifiée). From April to October, flea markets (brocantes) are organized on Sunday and public holidays. A little further away, but well worth it, are the cathedral in Laon and the Familistère (social palace) in Guise.
