Spend the night in a gorgeous, hand-hewn house perched atop the cliffs of Hesketh Island. Sea kayak around the islands, hike the Grace Ridge Trail, sauna or relax on the beach or deck. The house can be rented in conjunction with the Surf Shack and wall tents for larger groups.
This is a remote house on an island. Our water taxi provides transportation across the bay; $90/adult, $75/kids under 12. The boat departs at 3pm or 4pm from Homer (sometimes this can be flexible). Pick up is at 11am.

The space
The main house is 1900 square feet with a spacious loft construction. The panoramic views encompass the active volcanos Iliamna, Redoubt, and Augustine across Cook Inlet to the Northwest, and Yukon Island and other rocky islets to the East.

Downstairs, a full kitchen and living area occupy the main space, with a master bedroom and full bathroom tucked under the loft. The kitchen has beautifully crafted cherry wood cabinets, a new refrigerator, and a Wolf range. Pots, pans, and place settings are provided, as are cooking oil, spices and tea. The living area features a large wood stove with a dramatic rock hearth sourced from Hope, Alaska; and a sprawling leather couch the size of a small country.

The master bedroom has a queen bed. Directly down the hall, the full bathroom includes the usual sink and toilet, along with a unique circular shower. Water for the house is pumped via solar power from a well to a 350 gallon storage tank, so you must think about water conservation when showering, especially with large groups.

Upstairs is a large loft with a king bed and 4 twin beds. These twin beds are low to the floor. The loft has a half bath.
The wrap-around deck has a large area with a picnic table, a great place to dine and enjoy the sunset.

There is also a small cabin located down at the beach, it can be rented out in tandem with the Chalet for larger groups. It's listed here on Airbnb as "Surf Shack on Hesketh Island."

Guests must be able to hike 5-15 minutes uphill with gear. There is an ATV available with prior notice.

Guest access
The house is on 14.5 acres which guests are welcome to roam as well as a large beach to have bonfires and launch kayaks. A nature trail is undergoing construction that winds through the wooded hills of the island.
If there is a separate party of guests in the Surf Shack, please be considerate of them if you partake in beachside festivities.

Other things to note
We provide water taxi transportation to the island on our boat which is $90/adult and $70/child round trip. Kayak rentals as well as guided trips available through our company True North Kayak Adventures. Kayaks are $65/double/day and $50/single/day.
