Enjoy nature in this lakefront 3 bed/1.5 bath retreat. This house is set off the road in a very serene and rural area, yet you are only a short drive away from many conveniences. Less than 5 miles from Downtown Farmville, restaurants, GreenFront, and Longwood University. About a 20 min to Hampden Sydney. This is the perfect place to disconnect from the outside world and relax dockside. *Please read all details below*
The space
GREAT NATURAL RETREAT
-There's a private dock and small pavilion to relax and enjoy the lakefront view and sounds of nature. You are surrounded by wildlife in a private setting away from city life, but only a short drive from restaurants and other conveniences.
-WIFI BOX: We have a wifi box that seems to be working well! (You can always hide the password if you want to disconnect haha). You are welcome to use this for wifi calling, texting, etc. We also have a fire stick in the tv (you are welcome to use the free channels for movies etc or login to your own streaming subscriptions - ours' may be still logged in - if so, PLEASE MAKE SURE NO ONE MAKES PURCHASES ON OUR STREAMING ACCOUNTS - you will need to reimburse us for any charges)
Wifi Network Name: LakeHouse
Wifi Password: LifeIsBetter@TheLake
- We also have a wide selection of DVD's, as well as a number of board games. Our hope is that you will disconnect and enjoy time with one another and the beautiful scenery. We also have fishing poles that our guests are welcome to borrow (make sure you bring your favorite baits and tackle with you).
*Cell service isn’t the best for Verizon and AT&T, but we did install a cell booster and wifi, so if you're inside near the booster or wifi box you should get some service (or use wifi calling and text). I’ve heard T-mobile and U.S. Cellular work great from guests who said they got 4 bars at the house and outside. AT&T is so so from what I’ve heard. Verizon cell service is NOT good, but as I mentioned we installed a cell booster and wifi box, so if you are inside near the indoor antenna or box you should get some cell service if you follow the instructions)
**during the hottest months of the year there may be algae blooming on the lake. This is a natural occurrence that is more of an annoyance and eye sore than anything, but we want to mention it.
*Every guest over 6 guests incurs a small additional nightly fee to cover the additional preparation and bed linens/towels that will be needed.
*We may have security cameras monitoring the outside of the house (none inside the house).
Guest access
Guests are welcome to enjoy the house as well as the outdoor eating area and the pavilion and dock area on the lake. We have fishing poles and assorted other conveniences our guests are welcome to use.
*Every guest over 6 guests incurs a small additional nightly fee to cover the additional preparation and bed linens/towels that will be needed.
*Please note that we installed wifi and it seems to be working well. Being in a rural location (yet only 10 minutes away from many conveniences), we do not have very good cell service at the house for Verizon and AT&T, but we just installed a cell booster and wifi so you should get some service if inside near those in the living room area. T-mobile and U.S. Cellular appear to work great from guests who said they got 4 bars at the house. AT&T is so so from what I’ve heard. Verizon cell service is NOT good, but the cell booster helps, so if you are inside near the indoor antenna or wifi box you should get some cell service.
Some people find this a charming way to disconnect from the rest of the world and relax, but if you really want to use your cell phone: just stay near the indoor antenna and wifi box hi
Other things to note
