The bedroom with a queen-size bed and a 60" TV invites rest after a full day, while the open kitchen/living area offers a sleeper sofa, second widescreen TV, bistro-style dining nook, and a full kitchen is ideal for cozy evenings and slow breakfasts or longer stays.

Getting around is easy and flexible, with two nearby Metro stations—Van Ness (Red Line) and Columbia Heights (Green Line)—a short drive away, plus free street parking. A bus stop on 16th Street, with service to the White House, is about a 5–7 minute walk.
Please note the neighborhood is hilly, so walking may be challenging without a car. This retreat is best suited for guests with a vehicle, offering the convenience of ample free street parking at the home and near Metro stations and bus stops. Rideshares like Uber are also convenient and often economical, thanks to the property’s central DC location—just a short 3-mile trip to downtown and most major destinations.

Please note: Parkside Retreat is a garden‑level apartment located in the heart of Rock Creek Park, a nationally protected urban forest. During periods of extreme heat or heavy rain, park wildlife can become more active. We take preventive measures to keep small field mice out, and we ask guests to keep the patio door closed to help minimize wildlife entering. If you ever notice anything concerning, please let us know right away so we can address it promptly.

Duration: 15-20 minutes

The house was built on a little hill, so expect some steps up to the entrance, however, if it is a problem or somebody in your company is handicapped, or your dog is too old to climb the steps, we can arrange the entrance from the steps-free ground level via the garage door.
