This place is truly one of a kind. I can honestly say that is one of the most unique and special places I've ever stayed at! From the moment I entered the property and began the hike up ( worth it ) I began to feel as it I was in another country. Lush tropical plants surrounding the house, and beautiful scenery just all around. Simply perfect! I do recommend packing some mosquito repellent spray in advance. You may see one or two, but it will not take away from this magical place. You'll especially love waking up here in the morning! I can't wait to go back one day.
This place is amazing! My girlfriend and I spent the last 3 nights of our vacation here and wish we stayed here the entire trip. It is a bit of a hike up to the treehouse but well worth it. Once you get there, you're greeted to an amazing view of Sunset Beach through the trees. All that guards you from the elements is a roof over your head and screens all around so I recommend bug repellent as we both got eaten up. It didn't take anything away from our stay though.
My favorite thing about our stay was the book of experiences from previous guests. Whenever we had down time, we would read the book. It was amazing to see how many different walks of life stayed at this little place in the trees. I highly recommend staying here if you want the real experience of the North Shore.
We spent the 2nd half of our honeymoon here and it was absolutely perfect! We had a handful of things on the north shore we wanted to do, but a lot of the time we just ended up sitting on the porch and just simply listening to the nature around us. There was no better way to close out a beautiful vacation. Anytime people we know are going to Hawaii, we will highly recommend this place. Get ready for a lot of steps though! Its worth it in the end.
We were looking for a low-key place to relax for our anniversary and the Temple Treehouse was perfect! John's pre-trip info made getting settled in super easy. John and his WWOOFer crew were friendly and welcoming. We occasionally saw guests in the other properties, but we were isolated enough that we weren't constantly running into each other.
The Treehouse itself was a great secluded alternative to a hotel or beach house. The 103 step climb isn't for the faint of heart or those that have trouble with mobility, but there are places to stop and catch your breath if needed. The reward is a great view through the trees of Sunset Beach from virtually anywhere in the Treehouse. Fantastic porch and living area, great little kitchen and a hand-built spiral staircase to the loft bedroom. Now, since the Temple is virtually open to Nature (screen walls to keep much of that Nature outside) Nature chooses the temperature, and the "cool ocean breezes" we hoped for never got that cool. There's a fan in the bedroom that we brought downstairs when we needed it and placed at the end of the bed at night to blow a breeze, but that was only possible because I had a light duty extension cord with me, so pack one in- you'll thank me.
During our four day stay we took advantage of the gear stash he has on site, using the boogie boards and SUP boards every day. Since we were new to SUP, John directed us to a sheltered cove near Turtle Bay resort where we could literally get our feet wet. And by the time we left I was pretty comfy. A word of advice - the snorkel gear is a little rough and you might want to bring your own mask/snorkel; wouldn't you rather know where that thing you're putting in your mouth has been anyways?
Bottom line - John is delightful, the Treehouse is a great way to unplug and reconnect with life, and we plan on heading back the next chance we get.
Last minute needed a place to stay to extend our vacation for a few days, John led us to The Treehouse Temple. What a majestic, spiritual place to stay. Perfect for the more adventurous folks! Next time will stay longer to take advantage of the yoga and activities of the staff.
The only way to describe my stay at the temple treehouse is simply magical. After a few days of rushing around and trying to take different places in, in a short period of time this place provided the perfect retreat. We met john on arrival who told us about the place and welcomed us. He and his wife were absolutely lovely. Tucked up in the trees watching the sunset was a wonderful feeling. To cut a long story short, my night in the temple treehouse will stay with me forever.

About the Host, John
30+ year North Shore vet and crew love to share local knowledge with guests. We overlook the most beautiful ocean and love to get in it everyday! From white water first timers to big wave tow ins, kite surf, stand up paddle and traditional surfing, we do it all. The focus is fun and we will put you in the right place to maximize yours. We eat mostly vegetarian and organic, and a lot of our food we grow on the property. Yoga is a focal point for us, and if you care to join in we are all inclusive... novice first timers and seasoned yogis alike! The communal yoga deck overlooks the surf at Sunset Beach and has been the venue for some wonderful practice for our guests that have visited and ourselves as well. We enjoy inspiring and being inspired by the friends we make up here. There are a couple of other bungalows on the property that are inhabited by like minded people, we always welcome you to join us, but are very respectful of your privacy.
