  • Had a wonderful stay at the temple treehouse. John wasn't kidding about the stairs, it was a workout. Pack light! The treehouse was beautiful, the furniture well suited to the space. The treehouse was very clean, the bed comfy. It was so relaxing and peaceful up there, I slept so well hearing the ocean and birds. We only stayed the night, but I would happily go back.

  • Staying at the Temple Treehouse was the highlight of our trip--it's like staying in the rain forest! And the sound of the ocean will put you right to sleep. The entire crew working and living there embody the surf/communal spirit. We thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to come back some day!

  • Though I was not able to interact with John and the others as much, the treehouse was more than we expected. It was an absolutely incredible place and made the end of my trip that much better. Thank you for sharing your place John

  • The temple Treehouse was just as we expected it. John and everyone else that worked/lived there was so helpful. They allowed us to borrow their surf boards, bikes, and even helped us when we had car troubles. They went above and beyond our expectations and provided great hospitality. We will definitely be back to stay again!

  • My husband and I spent our first night of our vacation in the Temple Treehouse, it was the perfect start to our vacation. Tucked up high over sunset beach the best view of the ocean. We loved our stay, and would love to stay longer on our next visit.

  • the treehouse was awesome! the space is very well outfitted and comfortable, and the location right in sunset beach and down the street from ted's (one direction) and food trucks (other direction) was ideal. great ocean view! only wish we could've stayed longer.

  • This treehouse was the best place we stayed our entire trip - it was just incredibly cool.

You can hear the ocean all night and there's just enough trees and vegetation around to keep things private from the other treehouses/cabins.

The bed and furniture are extremely comfortable.

There's some sturdy mosquito netting around the perimeter of the treehouse, but we did have some sort of large-ish mammalian visitor during the night that broke into our food truck take-out - I'd recommend storing or throwing out any food before going to bed.

The whole vibe of the cabins/treehouses and John is really cool. It's expensive but completely worth it.

  • We stayed in two different luxury tree houses hosted by John and it was an amazing experience. Unbelievable views of the North Shore and fully equipped with amenities including wifi, which was very helpful as we had video conference calls we had to do and were able to right from the treehouse! John and his son are great people and I highly recommend staying here since they also have surf boards, boogie boards, paddle boards and beach cruisers to take out and enjoy the day.

  • Even though it was only for one night, this place was just the perfect get away for my hubby and I! Living in the heart of Waikiki right now, the peace and quiet of the treehouse temple was such a breath of fresh air, literally. Before we get PCS back to the mainland, I'll definitely be trying to fit another stay in here!
Make sure you are in good health though, there are a lot of steps up to here, but it's completely worth it.

  • The walk up the stairs is not for the faint of heart, but worth every step. Amazing atmosphere, and wonderful privacy. Loved every moment we were there.

30+ year North Shore vet and crew love to share local knowledge with guests. We overlook the most beautiful ocean and love to get in it everyday! From white water first timers to big wave tow ins, kite surf, stand up paddle and traditional surfing, we do it all. The focus is fun and we will put you in the right place to maximize yours. We eat mostly vegetarian and organic, and a lot of our food we grow on the property. Yoga is a focal point for us, and if you care to join in we are all inclusive... novice first timers and seasoned yogis alike! The communal yoga deck overlooks the surf at Sunset Beach and has been the venue for some wonderful practice for our guests that have visited and ourselves as well. We enjoy inspiring and being inspired by the friends we make up here. There are a couple of other bungalows on the property that are inhabited by like minded people, we always welcome you to join us, but are very respectful of your privacy.
