Tucked on the quiet shores of Lake Muhazi (about 1 hour from Kigali), our area blends peaceful lakeside living with classic Rwandan hill views. Mornings bring birdsong and fishermen on the water; afternoons are for swims, sun, and gentle breezes off the lake; nights are calm and starry.

You’re a short stroll from Umuko Lodge (gate ~100 m, then ~300 m uphill to the restaurant) and about 4 km from the lively Fish Pub, a favorite for fresh tilapia—ask for their pick-up boat (~10,000 RWF per trip, up to 18 people). Simple village shops are nearby; for full groceries we recommend stocking up in Kigali en route.

Getting around is easy: come by car, arrange our shuttle from Kigali, or take a bus to Nyagasambu and continue by moto taxi. The lakeshore has small trails for walks and birdwatching, and boat rides can be arranged. It’s a safe, slow, and truly relaxing corner of Muhazi.
