We dreamed about creating a space to cultivate curiosity, connection and a sense of wonder. We believed we weren't the only family yearning to focus on simplicity & meaningful moments. We found this thing of splendor & breathed fresh life into it to share with others. Our greatest hope is that you create lasting memories within its peculiar walls.

The space
Wonder Haus is a passive solar earth home with star-gazing observation tower in majestic Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Set on 7 acres surrounded by the San Juan National Forest. Pagosa Springs is home to the world's deepest geothermal hot springs, skiing, biking, hiking, fishing, dog sledding, the San Juan river and all the things outdoors.

Intentionally unconventional. Not for those wanting a typical log cabin in the woods.

:05 to historic downtown Pagosa Springs
:30 to deep-powder ski resort Wolf Creek
:50 to perfect Durango, CO (Purgatory Ski Resort)
Home sits on 7 private acres and offers a completely unique experience.

Sleeping Options:
Two "almost typical" bedrooms (each with a queen bed and walk-out patio)
Two ladder accessible loft bunk rooms (each with 4 twin beds + 1 daybed)
Main floor family room - optional roll away twins (2)
Three-story Observation Tower
- (2) fold out chaise lounge beds
- (1) full size bed

Living area
Large dining room (seats 12)
Full Kitchen
Outdoor fire pit & chimenea

Guest access
Guests have full access to the entire home, 7 acre property, tower upon request and in garage laundry.

Other things to note
Passive solar home uses the sun as the primary heat source. Please be advised the average in house temperature during winter is 64-degrees. We provide loads of extra blankets, a starter set of fire logs and space heaters but if you like to lounge in the buff it'll be far to chilly for you boo.

Location

Pagosa Springs, Colorado, United States

"Surrounded by the 2.5-million-acre San Juan National Forest and overshadowed by the 12,000-foot peaks of the San Juans, this Rockies outpost shares much of the same terrain as Durango, 60 minutes west—with fewer crowds. So chances are good you’ll find room in the new Pagosa Hut and Trail System, a 36-mile network of backcountry paths. Bonus: Pagosa averages 300 sunny days a year.

PLAY
The San Juan River, which cuts right through the heart of Pagosa Springs, has some of the country’s best Rainbow fly fishing, thanks to a blitz stocking of some 9,000 fish last summer. Give the Continental Divide Trail a go—on two fat tires. Grind out the 18-mile CDT Alberta Peak Loop in granny gear, and you’ll be rewarded with alpine meadow views that would make Maria von Trapp jealous. No bike? No problem. The gearheads at Pagosa Outside will set you up with one for $35 a day, and share their expertise free of charge (pagosaoutside.com). Come winter, you can let the lifts do the work, as they carry you to the 12,000-foot summit of Wolf Creek Ski Area (all-day lift tickets from $52; wolfcreekski.com)."
